    Dispute Evidence / Rationale
The .inp contains 15 total attempts - the global submission rules for MAME require all .inps to contain ONLY the submitted performance, unless an exception is included in the rule set (i.e. for cassette games with very long load times).

From the "Offical MAME Platform Submission Rules and Guidelines":

The player currently has a higher-scoring sub in the queue (that may or may not be valid), but a dispute is still warranted as some voters who downloaded and played back the .inp may have correctly voted no, but had their credibility lowered.

    We need better MAME analysis.

Is this rule just a hold over from the past like maybe stream lining things for over worked refs or is there actually a reason for it as far as validity of performance is concerned ?

Its generally so whoever watching the inp doesn't have to sit through hours of failed attempts before the submitted one, especially when whoever is watching has no idea when/where the submitted attempt actually occurs

There are games where you can gain an advantage on subsequent credits, either by manipulation of RNG, or based on a quirk in the game's code (i.e. Rainbow Islands) - this advantage is obviously the most important consideration as to why the rule exists, and is similar to why NVRAM must be disabled before recording as well.

As for overworked refs, I can't speak to the specifics of the their workloads from way back, but as someone who has analyzed at least hundreds of MAME performances, this is absolutely an appropriate rule. As the global rule states, it literally takes a matter of seconds to restart an .inp recording - playing back an .inp of potentially hours of attempts to try and find one in particular could be a very big undertaking. There is no way to rewind an .inp during playback, and only limited fast forwarding capabilities...multiply this by dozens or hundreds of .inps (if this were allowed going forward), and proper MAME analysis, which is already a big chore, would become a nightmare.

There is a very good reason for nearly all of the global submission rules for MAME (the possible exception being the requirement for video to be included along with the .inp, as the video proves nothing), and MARP adheres to these as well. As @starcrytas mentioned, what's needed is for adjudicators to pay closer attention to what are important rules.

Voting yes. This kind of reckless behaviour is offensive for all those wise no voters that unfairly lost their credibility and it's utterly unacceptable.

The rules say only one attempt per INP. Doesn't matter if the video only showed one attempt, if the INP shows multiple attempts, then it's not a valid score.
