    Time entered is that displayed at the completion of the track. Any shortcuts are permissible within the game confines. As all vehicles skins do not change the mechanics of the game, player may choose an alternative skin where they have the facility. NB: the manufacturers designed one game and released two. TrackMania United Forever is the full commercial game with all tracks available. TrackMania Nations Forever is the free release which caters for only the Nations area of the United version. For TrackMania Nations Forever submissions, you are playing in the Nations area only.

    1:06.54 is when run starts.

    I've never seen a run with respawn's before.

    The timer keeps going throughout so there's no "timer reset" going on. They can be tactical - see @Fordy's D07-Race as an example. However, in this case it was just poor driving & wanting to get something finished. :P

    After crossing the finish line, the submitted time of 1:26.44 checks out.

    A couple of observations and a question:

    A running timer is normally seen at the bottom center of the screen. It appears to have been replaced by a counter, incremented each time a respawn occurs.

    After the run has completed, the total number of respawns (2) is listed where the final time would typically appear (see below).

    Is there a user setting that controls that game behavior?

    There's no change the user can make to those circumstances. The "Platform" challenges challenge the player to make it to the finish line with the least number of respawns, no timer challenge. Obviously, comparing a bunch of 0 achievements on the scoreboard isn't particularly fun, so the time is used instead - which is only displayed at the finish line. From memory, the player can open the track as a custom track and play it against the timer instead but there's always your own ghost to improve and get a good sense of the time if someone wants to hunt the timer.
