Testing out my new PS_IO on my PS1 . Works great.. Ps_io eliminates the use of the optical drive.
It's basically an everdrive for ps1.

I wonder if I can use it?

I think yes, but want to hear from others.
I'm almost SURE the device is ok. It's too similar to other things we already use.

So, Fred, is that something you can use on an unmodded PS1?
If so, I might get one, I've considered the mod device, but there's no reason, if that works well?

Haha-I actually had a device, prolly 20 years ago, you hooked it to the port in the back, propped the lid open with a toothpick-
You could play "copied" games, on disc, but you had to use a real disc for the startup, then swap it.
I really never had many games for it tho, was kinda a waste on me.

Ya, I definitely think the device is likely ok, we'll see what others have to say!

OK, I looked, I guess it does require a tad bit of soldering and stuff.
Man, I gotta believe that it's OK, almost for sure.

It's basically no different than what everyone else is using for the PS1, Saturn and Dreamcast. The main difference being, the CD drive stays intact here, on the others, it's removed. Since the others are acceptable, this has to be too, just not for manually timed runs (like the others) due to possible loading time differences.

    Exactly. :D
Lots of 1sts to be surpassed: what are you waiting for? Play the game, submit the score...

I'm with you, just exploring the issue-
So it's almost better in a way, less actual modding necessary?
Seems like a good device, you know I've been considering it, this really might be the one I go with, it's available at the main place I buy from(actually, out of stock atm, but is on their site, anyway), Stone Age Gamer(not cheap, but if you do enough, you get good discounts eventually...).
    Hmm.
