Lol looks like they’re not doxxing anymore

In a polar opposite reversal they no longer give our names in notifications

I’m in dark mode but I misspoke it’s the shout box not notifications ignoring name

I really dislike the use of dox in this context. It suggests that TG set out with a deliberate purpose to publish all our details without our consent. As it's no longer possible in the app (presuming it ever happened & isn't just the word of disgruntled members in a popular video chat - I have no inclination in either direction), then the correct term would be leak not dox. Very, very different intent on the action.

  4. Snowflake's Avatar

I’d be more inclined to believe an innocent intent if they’d deny or confirm. You yourself pointed out a responsibility to inform us that they shirked. There refusal to address this at all when they even have time to address Rocky rose videos speaks volumes

Also not sure if you saw glen post the email where he informs dave of the issue and Dave responds saying they’re working on it — so he knew yet didn’t take it off the store or shut the server. Great they’re working to improve it but to know and still leave the access up when short term options exist. When you have a bug like that of course you try to fix the bug but in the meantime you prevent anyone from connecting.

I guess the listed email could be fake but again this is where refusal to deny is defeaning

The attitude being shown by yourself and others (understandable in the absence of further information) is to target certain individuals as though they actually have direct influence over the next action of TG or whatever behemoth is going on behind TG.

Sure Dave Hawksett carries the title of custodian of TG. For starters, he's in the UK - a significantly different time zone from the devs. So there's likely to be some delay in any translation of American-reported, UK-read, UK-relayed, American-read information stream.

Whomever is at the head of TG traditionally is three weeks behind on keeping up with their own inbox.

As best we know it, the devs are not directly employed by TG and have unknown priorities for the company that they directly work for. That company will likely have "contractual obligations" to complete the task at hand but is one of many tasks to keep their own company afloat.

The relationship between the TG coffers and that other company performing work for TG is likely to be strained and also not under Dave's direct control (custodian, not owner). So Dave's likely position on the matter will be to relay the need for coffer redirection to the owner(s).

Given the massive cash injection for eSports the "owner(s)" is now likely to be board of directors, not just Jace. That board of directors will likely oversee next actions, etc, etc.

Boards of directors in this situation will likely see the scoreboard as a loss-leader to retain historical significance of the name and not as a money earning front, so why waste coffers there except to ensure legal boundaries are met.

TG is still American & we all know Amercians look down on the rest of the world so why would some EU legal requirement be of any concern to them when they can just cover their tracks.

What do we get from the community on this? Short sighted angry arsehole talk from very very small section of the community - the primary source of which likely should be bound by contractual/NDA to not have said anything in the first place. & back to board of directors checking the legal to cover their arses & silence that primary source (who will no doubt likely retort in angry arsehole talk the contrary).

Everything you say is possible I would appreciate an official response though. If you don’t think tg should care for eu law honestly I would agree eu law and of itself doesn’t control us however privacy concerns is a concerns Americans share as well so this isn’t about eu vs America. We should’ve been warned when it was found. Any steps that could’ve been taken should’ve not just been long term steps to fix the root cause but short term steps to stop the leak as soon as possible. And we should certainly get an official statement by now

well the "3 weeks behind thing" would contradict the email, since if that screenshot isnt faked dave confirmed the next day he knew about it yet here we are now with no update. Now if your only concern is dave being target of course i'll acknowledge dave doesnt own TG. if dave is being told to keep his mouth shut thats not his fault. As long as he reported up the chain, then whoever made the final call to keep it secret is at fault. since i dont know all TG's internal working i'm not gonna speculate dave unliaterally chose to keep this secret, i'm also not gonna speculate it the info went to jace who then made the call to keep it secret. I am gonna say though, somewhere with in TG, the organization itself has decided not to officially adress it. The blame of particular individuals is an internal matter, my only concern is TG itself not adressing it. I dont care which individual TG uses as that mouth piece.

Am I personally leaving tg over this? Much like with all my other complaints no it’s not enough to send me away but that doesn’t mean I don’t think it’s a big deal

I wonder are we really arguing the importance of this? Do you really believe all you said? Or is this just rhetoric because you don’t really believe glen. Like i notices in arguments people sometimes make points they don’t mean just to support a goal they do believe. Your goal seems to be to tell those of upset by this to chill out. But is that fir the reasons you state above or is it because you don’t believe glen?

I tend to believe screenshots from a person whose been fairly honest especially when the point gets ignored. If tg took the time to deny it id have to give them the benefit of the doubt. I initially just asked for denial or confirmation.

The refusal to deny this especially when there’s time to deny random YouTube videos yeah I find that incriminating.

Note: I mentioned likelihoods, nothing factual. Anything you've expressed as a response to my opinion can't possibly be correct as I did not express my opinion. I especially did not mention my opinion on Americans ignoring EU law or anyone ignoring any law anywhere.

You said we all know Americans look down on others that’s opinion not fact and use of the wird likely is also opinion. You’ve even called people arseholes that’s another opinion Look I don’t mean to attack semantics but if you’re ginba say I misinterpreted you I’d appreciate you clarifying what you think I misinterpreted. All I can go by is what I read and the words I’ve seen. By all means please elaborate I’ve definteky tied to make clear my stance and if I’ve misread yours I’d appreciate clarification

Oh and we wouldn’t have to speculate on likelihood if tg simply confirmed or denied. An explicit denial id believe since I don’t think they’d go on record lying about something like this

Say there's a lake, with signs all around saying "Do not Swim in the Lake".

Admittedly, likely more a rule than a law, but stay with me.

So, you are passing by the lake, and you see a kid in the lake drowning.

    What do you do?

Haha-obviously, I know that you know that I know that you know there are common-sense exceptions to rules, and not busting on ya, just saw that recently, thought it was cute.

    ;)

    *Edit*

Wife is a jerk, just told her the story, she insists that jumping into the lake to help the kid would not constitute swimming at all.

    Stupid logical people...

    ;P

I admit it. Whenever I travel to Europe on vacation, I do look out my window and "look down" on the continent right before the plane lands. :P

as funny as making it about america vs eu is its like the owners of tg are all american and the users are all european. first it at least appears (based on screenshot and whistelblow testimony) TG knowing about the issue but let our data out anyway, and then no surprise the same orgnization that could keep our data secret, also couldnt silence the whistleblowing. kind of an irony there, if you cant keep secrets, or course you cant the fact that you cant keep secrets secret. if we're gonna fault the whistleblower it also reflects on TG to not even be able stop that. if we wanna talk short sighted it sure doesnt look like a lot of though was put into protecting info.

al that said, i'll grant everyone here hasthe right to your opinions but i also have full right to reiterate mine. heck, i'd be satisfied with TG just doesnt telling me to stop talking about it, cause then at least they'd be acknowledging they know about it

There is a 3 hour timezone difference between London and Quatar. Anyone in the offshore business adjusts their work hours for their client, not the other way around.

Also, you get what you pay for.

How is that relevant to my personal information being viewable by people like Rockey Rose, Rudy Ferretti, or Ben Sweeney?

If the rest of the world (except Canada and maybe Hungary) were not giant shitholes, America would not look down on them. There is a reason my family left Europe in the 1700's. It sucked then and it sucks now.

question: am i supposed to look down on canadians? do i view you as european? felllow north americans? Bartahx has informed me " we all know Amercians look down on the rest of the world " and now that i know this it has led me to great confusion on how i'm supposed to view and others.

nah just kidding, i can laugh it off. mainly miffed about the doxxing and follwing silence, but slightly miffed that resulted in broad sweeping insults to americans. the irony of accusing an entire group of people of looking down on entire groups of people....
