Heres something that wont offend anyone

So i've been wanting to create a strawberry shortcake track for a few years now, but kept putting it off since i knew i wouldnt be submitting anytime soon.

However, the new hubbub about whats offesnive and what isnt i felt gave an added motivation for this. I present you to the one track that cant offend anyone

MarcaKe RULES: Running over Strawberry "Shortcase" with your vehicle is not allowed, as it is not a nice thing to do to a cute little girl who smells nice!!! :P

i tell you what, if you can find a glitch that allows that go for it. but remmeber though glitches are allowed, game genies are no.

  4. Snowflake's Avatar

oh, there is the rule about no grumpies though. What do you think old man cohen? Can you stop being grumpy for a day?

An issue I see with this track is the lack of an actual game score. The adjudicator will have to count how many characters you’ve completed. Since the game is very simple, it can be played indefinitely. For a child’s game, this is about as extreme as it gets. Maybe a maximum score might be a good idea.

yes you would have to count. but we already have "most free shot" in that basketball game where the score is like 500, then again maybe thats why noone is adjudicating it

other options are "highest score in one day" as well as some speed run to first correct match

you know me, i went straight with the marathon option first :)
we certainly create a one day title as well.

come on, you know you'd love to see a 24hr marathon of strawberry shortcake. no shame in admitting it.

I will watch grumpy free, only if a "rescue pomeranian" sits on your lap during gameplay. When the pooch jumps off, game over.

Every time you complete a character the day (24 seconds) starts over. Same old thing over and over again. Maybe a 15 minute track might work better than a 24hr track. Maybe a 2nd track… fastest to “some number”, rounded to the nearest second.

There’s always room for a joke version of this fine track later but first let’s get the serious competitive track right

Yeah there should be an option where the sun doesn’t reset

15 minutes is an Atari standard so that’s a good default but also feels long I’d be fine with even 5 minutes

  11. GregDeg's Avatar

I agree, 5 minutes would be better. Let’s start with that and see how much attention the track gets. If needed, a second variation could be added later. You’ll need specific rules stating when the time starts and ends and what constitutes a “completed” character.

  12. Snowflake's Avatar

The sun resetting is a pretty good indicator you got the character correct. Additionally you can make a photo list of all characters but come on wecwere all fans we know which characters are which

Start and can be tg standard when you first take control and when you last lose control

  13. GregDeg's Avatar

I like the idea of the sun indicating the start and stop times. You may also want to include… Once the sun sets the game is over. No restarts. That should be understood, but you never know.

  14. Snowflake's Avatar

That’s fair. It may be redundant but it’s nit incorrect and clarity is a good thing

Might I add I love the detailed thought were putting into this

“What did you do last night”

“Oh I discussed in detail with the worlds best Atari player how to best create competitive rules for strawberry shortcake”

Before creating a donation thread, post the rules here first so we can discuss wording and any further clarifications.

    *Giggle*

Actually "played" that "game" as a kid, my Cousin Paula had it.

Someone should hack it, and make a KISS game...

    :)

I really should check the game out closer before throwing in an idea-

Does the game generate the characters in any particular order?

Meaning, do you cycle through all the characters and start through them again, or do they come up at random?

Could it be tracked for "Fastest Completion/All Characters"?

Then there would be some "random" thrown in, hoping for the right "set"?

Mebbe way off, but just an idea.

  18. GregDeg's Avatar

The game seems to randomly select the character. There will be some skill involved such as recognizing what part of the character already exist on the screen and how many moves, left or right, is needed to make corrections. The only luck factor will be how many fewer times you randomly get Huckleberry Pie. His victory dance is over 14 seconds long. The rest of them are all under 6 seconds.

It sounds like the idea may work-

Say there are 5 characters in the game-for the track, your game is "complete" once you make all five of them.

If it comes up that you get a double, that would be bad, because you'd want all of them completed as quickly as possible, so your hope would be to get all of them in succession, w/o having to repeat a character?

  20. GregDeg's Avatar

A “5” character track might be something we can pursue for a secondary track. The best case scenario would be to get 5 different ones in a row and have Huckleberry Pie as your last character. The time would stop when the fifth character is completely assembled and the sun moves to the left. This would avoid the last victory dance, which in this case, would be the longest.
