in today's issue of "have you noticed"

noticing seaquest cart art is also interesting

now compare that to this screenshot i took from @GregDeg 's game without his permission and theres not a thing he can do about it

1. the label has plenty of yellow, yet uses white numerals instead of yellow
2. get the colors at the bottom wrong (likley the artist just forgot)
3. the fish are actually more detailed with two colors instead of just 1 (their fins and tails have color)

4. the subs are the wrong color -- this one doesnt bother me as the shade of blue might not just be available

now heres the one i find really interesting
5. the label has 6 row (one row is empty, but you see 5 so presumably the blank row is meant to have characters too) yet the game has 4.

stuff like the extra enemies the extra row get me speculating if the game was meant to be more complex

anyway ever since i noticed freeways label differences i decided to start paying more attention to these things. who knows, maybe in some cases its an indication of early revision that didnt make it to production? regardless, i find it neat.

Mostly, I honestly think what you are seeing is the artistic freedom that the Activision game programmers allowed to their graphic artists.

The company, as you know, was founded on "artistic freedom", and "artistic recognition"(and making butttons of money...), and the artwork on their products is typically amazing, to say the least.

I'm guessing if a good artist came in with a "good picture", the Guys in the early days of Activision would have willingly gone with a bit of "artistic interpretation", if it suited the game?

Well I hope you never look at the original Mega Man cover...

I’m only talking about things that appear to be screenshots which aren’t

The position of the remaining subs on the label is too far to the left also. I expect the artist will have been shown the game and then heads off to their den to draw a likeness.

The first two subs should be under where the 100000 and 10000 position are

however the subs should also be the same width as the numbers so yes their wrong size in turn makes exact positions impossible
