Looking For Another Android Screen Recorder

Hello everyone,

For the past few years of Android submissions, I have been using Mobizen to record Android scores. Recently, I've been experiencing some issues with Mobizen stopping all of a sudden and the recorded video would be corrupted. This can happen at any time, whether it be 5 minutes, or 45 minutes.

This is getting a bit annoying, so can someone recommend a good screen recorder?

Or, can someone show how to prevent Mobizen from crashing?

Thanks in advance!

First thing to check is the size of the recordings. There's a generic 4GB limit to the recording size - I believe it's linked to some OS limitation but haven't bothered to check for sure. If your recordings are hitting 4GB, then there's no great solution to on-device recording. Switch the Mobizen options to record at a smaller resolution or smaller bps in order to make a the same recording duration produce a smaller file (thus extending the recording time). The type of game will make significant differences - I can't get past around 10 mins with GnarBike Trials but more than 50 mins with something like 1010!

It varies even on the same game.

For example, Angry Birds. It can go out in 2 minutes, or I can record an hour with no issues.

I don't record anywhere near 1GB, and I record to a 32GB SD card, so no need to worry about file sizes.

Oh yeah, when I say "Mobizen stopping all of a sudden," I mean the circle goes away and closes itself.

I recently had to format, and lose all gaming progress, and the issue has been happening more now than before. Maybe my device just doesn't like Mobizen.

Check your file path to make sure it's still recording to your card. It's been about a month now, but I started having a problem where my pc wouldn't recognize my phone when it was plugged in so I was like I'll record to an sd card that way I can just take it out and put it in a card reader and a message came up about mobizens policys about recording to external media. Since they apparently dont like people recording to sd cards, if they had an update they may have reset your file path to record to your phone's internal memory again

Definitely not what I was describing then. Most of the recorders work the same way - including Google's Play Games. They turn on the Cast feature and then record from there. So first up is if the Cast is till going then Mobizen has definitely crashed. Try Rivulus' Screen Recording or AZ Screen Recorder or any of the many others. See if they crash in a similar way.

Then, like Speedy mentions, check if a different recording location makes a difference. If you are recording to SD card, it could be the SD card is going wonky, for example.

    Thanks for the suggestions!

I'll try them out and see what happens.

    Just a quick update:

I started recording to the internal storage, and Mobizen crashes only when the game lags.

I do most of my android subs at work. I do home health The job is basically stay out of the way until im needed, so Ill start a game, and ill have to put it down real quick if the guy im watching hollers that he needs to go to the bathroom. Getting him in and out of his wheelchair takes a long time, so there've been times where its quit recording while ive been tending to him, and I just figured it was due to inactivity, but after reading about your issue, Im starting to wonder if I wasn't experiencing the same problem and just was not aware.

That sounds like the 4GB file limit is getting hit while you are away from the phone (from my experience).

certainly possible, I know some of my console submissions have been over 4gb, a few even 5 or more before I ran them through handbrake, but I've never noticed anything on mobizen even getting close. Since I live in the boonies , even short submissions take a long time to upload so that is something I do try to pay attention to.
