Start of Game Storage Unit

I've started work on my own version of a game storage unit. I've got the frame done and put in 1 of the drawers to test. Still need to decide on a face for the drawers. My staining skills leave a little to be desired but I like it overall.

Right now I am planning to have 3 drawers of this size. Each one holds about a 168 2600 / Odyssey2 / Intellivision games. After that I want a few small drawers to hold cords and other small things. Then a powered drawer that will showcase all the handhelds, all being powered and ready to play.

Then here is a shot of my current mess of old systems. Modern stuff is to the left on my desk and the NES is currently out in the main downstairs on a bigger CRT as the kids have been using it lately playing a lot of Duck Hunt.

I long for the days when my collection was accessible. Now it's just boxes ontop of boxes for the "accessible" stuff and boxes in storage for those that aren't. :( The loft isn't even accessible anymore (it's full of stuff - not just mine!) and the front bedroom is spilling out of its doorway (almost none of it mine). Good job we've got strong floors. ;)

That's what I want to try to get away from. It was either do this or start making things inaccessible. The other side of the room that isn't shown is just boxes and boxes and boxes piled high that need places to live.

Make sure you use plenty of glue. Those "pocket screws" are not a trustworthy fixing.
