Multi player accounts / submissions

Do any official guidelines exist here? Apologies if I'm going over old ground here.

My loose understanding was that a separate account was to be set up for each combination of multiple players, although I have a memory that this has been waived/neglected at least once.

I also get the feeling that it is the norm for names not to appear correctly - whether or not such cases need admin assistance, I don't know.

Another thought that occurs here - I assume you need SP to submit from a multi-player account, and therefore you have to vote from said account.
Isn't this problematic?!

Can we make submissions free somehow for multi-player accounts? I realise that requires flagging accounts & tracks with some sort of identifier, so maybe that's not the solution... but as rarely as it probably happens, it seems a loophole that one person can vote multiple times via single & multiple player accounts.

Or maybe I just don't understand the situation...
... anyhoo, my main concern is that it doesn't appear to be clearly documented about how I go about claiming all those multi-player records...ahem!

The thing is... multi-player records like this just aren't handled well right now. I don't think there's any good way to truly track these that doesn't end up messy and troublesome.

I'm hoping that given that Jace has his engineers working on fixing bugs and adding some minor features, that we might be able to see this addressed with a good solution in the near future.

it was my understanding (and since i cant remember the specific link i'll accept its possible i dreamt it or just speculated but then convinced myself it was more than specualtion) that either using a shared accoun ,or just one of the two people's accoutn was a temporary measure until some unknown future date when tg could properly implement teams

@Jace Hall has brought back state of the galaxies. perhaps this would make a good topic?

My latest understanding was that each person could submit under their own account.

Yes, I actually asked questions/permission, instead of forgiveness on this one.

There was talk of 2p accounts being implemented a couple of years ago, but the general concensus was, for now, to just submit the score on either player's account, my Son and I did a couple and they went through properly.

Good question, and going forward there will likely be more and more 2p opportunities, so definitely something to "fix" there in the future.

I prefer doing it under my own account so all my records are in 1 place.

I probably won't do anymore until a direct decision is made, no big shakes, I can't really think of anything 2p I want to get into atm anyway.

I think I had decided to let my Son, or whomever, "take credit" for anything achieved, it, uh, already takes a half hour or so to scroll thru my scores, haha, but I guess if you had two members both "not minding" to take credit, the fair way would be that whomever was the most productive in the game gets the score.

    :D

From thinking about it, it would probably be useful to @Jace Hall and team for us to do some discussion on how we think multi-player records *should* work. It's not obvious just what a good solution would be.

Does everyone on a score need to have a TG account? Do you need to approve a score that someone else submits and marks you as a player? How do we handle creating tracks for multiple players? Should tracks have a fixed number of players, or allow for ranges? And so on...

If we could come up with a proposed solution, it might get the feature implemented faster.

Spitballing... probably not easy to implement, but if you build teams out of individual accounts (I think it's fair to expect each team member to have an individual TG account), then all individual players would be credited with a score... not sure how you'd calculate ESI from team performances, but I'm sure someone can figure that out!

Any player in a team can use their SP to submit their performance (perhaps all players should submit at least 1 SP each?), which gets around the issue of the team needing to accumulate SP, and therefore a team needs no voting rights.

Existing multi-player tracks may need to be rebuilt/grandfathered etc, to cater for teams. Then you'd need to cross-check team sizes as appropriate for each track...

Ugh! This all just gives me a headache just thinking about it! Who brought up this topic anyway?

I was able to make a two player account.

    First name: Matthew

    Middle name: and

    Last name: Nathan Felix

I put that as our name, got the account verified, and it shows up correctly in the database!

    Example:

This was on the list of things to do in 2015. But never materialized it seems. It is Likey to be pushed to back again over our profiles and front page articles not above leagues at twin galaxies.

Investors likely thought that team scores were not a popular thing to waste resources on.

I have team accounts and submit under my individual name. When you click my submissions it shows all players in the evidence section.

Old TG mentality was to create a new account for the team and attribute the achievement to that. I certainly took that knowledge and have some alternative accounts for those teams but the whole SP/CR thing muddies the waters in this era. There have definitely been people posting multi-player on single accounts since TGSAP.

For the time being, if you have a multi-player submission, take your pick!
