Rick Fox and Twin Galaxies International

Newsweek is reporting that Rick Fox is settling various lawsuits with the remaining partners of Echo Fox to pursue new ventures, including one reportedly called Twin Galaxies International. Fox's statement does not specifically mention TG, but he said "I look forward to announcing my next endeavors in the coming days."

I can't imagine the stress Rick was going through. He seems like such a genuine and caring guy on the podcasts I listen to. I hope he can put all that negativity behind him and move forward with his other projects. I look forward to how Twin Galaxies International plays into things.

I'm curious why it is Twin Galaxies " International" (now) again? Likely some legal protection avenue. Cause I know when Pete Bouiver got Twin Galaxies from Walter the International was added to the name. The hear say at that time that I heard was cause of back owed taxes by the prior entity. And Twin Galaxies was a new corporations, etc, whatever. None of them actually care about the scoreboard.

Twin Galaxies , Twin Galaxies international , TG, whatever you call it, is done. It should be called something else now. The name does not mean what it used to and what it should stand for.

Maybe “fair and balanced recognition of records” something the older tg was never much good at

Could you elaborate? I agree that there's an argument that launching an entity without any TG-name connections could have appeal in terms of a "clean slate" approach, but such an argument has sway precisely because of the baggage from the past that the TG name carries, primarily a result of its previous management under Walter Day, including high score abuses, favouritism, and other shortcomings that many gamers continue to raise on social media land. So ingrained is this negative image that most of these same people don't realize that Walter Day is no longer at the helm. In fact, there's a flip-side argument - that as a result of the changes introduced by Jace, including its recent high-profile actions in cleaning up the scoreboard, there's a (narrow?) path to using TG's name and legacy as a comprehensive scoreboard in a new, more positive light. I say narrow because there's also the fallout from the H1Z1 Pro League.

early on (public thread somewhere) i made the point i'd rather TG be named "the jace hall scoreboard" as it didnt take long at all for me to realize how much nonsense happened under the old system. I dont think people that joined in the last several months realize how many 100s of scores (not an exageration) have been purged and so maybe dont realize how bad the problem was

jace countered that he bought the name for a reason. i dont know if he was making a snip or an honest question, but he questioned why i would want something to do with an entity (tg) that i hold in such low regard. my reply is that while i hold tg in low regard i hold jace in high regard. i feel jace is a great leader of a scoreboard, he unfortunatley just bought a crappy one. but hey, a crappy system like tg run by a great guy like jace, overall works out well.

if i were to speculate, i highly doubt jace realized just how much corruption was invovled in the old ways when he first bought the place.

I I like the name Twin Galaxies international. although galaxies and international kinda conflict.

we could always name it triple planets double meteors quadruple planetoids Etc. those were funny names that a certain referee came up with so he wouldn't have to say Twin Galaxies.

there's still a lot of Goodwill behind the word Twin Galaxies. there's no reason to ditch the name. it is under New Management at the old scoreboard is getting slowly but surely cleaned up. people are adjudicating and submitting and that is what the scoreboard is for. I have a counter that makes beeps every time the cue goes up or down. it goes off quite often meaning that scores are being processed regularly.

when I started the counter the key was up over a thousand now it's down to 697 or so. And that's with plenty of ups and downs along the way. so far more than 300 scores have been adjudicated in the past 2 weeks.

I still hold out hope that big things are coming just around the corner.

I have been trying to be very positive over these past couple months make blog posts about interesting technology that I come across. we can all chip in to make this a better place. And we have been and I congratulate each and every one of you for that. I think I spend more time on Twin Galaxies now then ever before. And I don't even talk about video games anymore on Facebook that whole scene is pretty much died.
