TG at 40 - City vs City Team Tournament, April 1998

Leading up to the publication of his book Twin Galaxies' Official Video Game & Pinball Book of World Records in February 1998, Walter Day sought to raise the profile of the relaunched Twin Galaxies, now based in Fairfield, Iowa by promoting high score competitions. The "City vs City" tournament format first appeared in 1995, and by 1998 had made a modest expansion beyond its initial cluster of a few midwestern communities to include team registrations at area arcades in Seattle, Chicago, and Wilmington. Like many events through the late 1990s and early 2000s, Day pledged to include the results in the second edition of the TG Record Book, which was ultimately published in 2007.

    Very very cool.
I was gonna try and look this up but I have the blue version seen in the flyer, not the later edition with the yellow cover.

Man that website archive really takes me back to the Internets Wild West era.

This is kinda interesting too, it shows how Walter has the mindset of a promoter. Thats always what he was best at imo.

"If you think that you can achieve a new high score on any arcade or homegame, email Rachael Wendell at Twin Galaxies, and we'll organize a media event with your local newspaper and TV and give you the chance to prove your stuff in front of an audience of witnesses. Twin Galaxies coordinated nearly 1,000 of these "media events" for players during the "Golden Age." Here are twelve examples:"
