A Fistful of Poster Confusion

I saw on Twitter that some gamers were griping that Billy Mitchell crashed their tournament hosted by Kumite this weekend in Tennessee, which isn't too surprising, but this certainly surprised me.

STEVE WIEBE IS MISSING!

I don't know if it's some sort of twisted joke, or there was a hugely embarrassing printing mishap, but check out the poster behind Billy. You might recognize it if you own the DVD for the King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters. You may have also seen variants of this image used in the various promotional posters for the film. It features Steve seated in front of the cabinet with his right arm outstretched. I remember seeing it everywhere at the height of the movie's promotion.

But check out the poster behind Billy - Steve has vanished!

No stool, no triumphant raised fist, no Steve Wiebe!

I thought that maybe for a split second that this was some super-duper super-special DVD special edition that erased our hero from the cover for some editorial reason but kept everything else from the DVD cover, including the Rotten Tomatoes score and movie reviewer quotes, but I've come up empty handed - I wasn't able to find a single image on the web where Steve is missing.

I don't know if we should fan out to search, or if we have obligation to alert Billy that his hired printer did a massive screw up, but there's no doubt Steve is not present and accounted for.

@stevejwiebe I hope you're okay and this is just an early Hallowe'en prank.

It's actually a different machine. No black door between his legs!
    Who's in the mask?
There's only one star in the Mitchel show. Maybe Steve can sue for a change, like George McFly did...
Big productions have many idea's before they have the final plan. Could be just the original.

After seeing another photo on Twitter it looks like this might be a prop of sorts where one can sit down in a chair in front of it and act the part of Steve for a photo op - you can see that the text has been changed on the poster from "only one man can rule" to "only one person can rule." So it looks like a false alarm after all! Now we all can take turns pretending to be Steve for that iconic photo - even Billy.

In the photo you showed, there are several signs of it just being a poster. Look at the bars at the top and bottom of the poster, the supports sticking out at the bottom and the pole visible from the top.
