What is your proudest video game moments?

Kind of a fun little article. doesn't have to be record setting. What was your best video game moment. And I mean, when it happened you have never been more pumped/excited/relieved it finally happened.

I am still thinking of mine but I have it narrowed down to my Millennium Falcon Raid on Sullust run in Stars Wars Rogue Squadron, my Tefmo Super Bowl 4th place finish at Madison, or finding a beast of a sniper rifle in Borderland's that I have yet to see better anywhere online. No modding like some douche bags, this was from literally 7 days of just farming loot from crawmerax with a buddy. Literally we had 8days of game play and the last 7 was farming that thing. So fun.

Mine would have to be my DK Killscreen. The amount of joy I felt when I finally reached that milestone was enormous.

I've done a lot of good stuff.

And a lot of asinine stuff, lol, but it is what it is.

I would have overanalyzed this, had you not posted yur response first, but you struck a chord.

My very first High Score is one I will likely never top.

    Burgertime/MAME, Killscreen, 7,837,750.

The Dragster 5.57 was close, you could hear me get, uhh, a little emotional, but after I reached the K/S on BT, I just put my head down on my control panel and sobbed while a few men were killed off.

    :)

I don't have much to draw upon from the past 3 years so my list is mostly record-related. A few personal video game moments stand out:

    - Breaking 200 pts in John Madden Football (Genesis) after many runs of 190-196 pts

    - Playing Raid on Bungeling Bay (C64 EMU) for 2 hours to beat the then-NTSC mark of 152,000 (I said it was personal, no?)

    - Breaking the Summer Games (C64 EMU) Diving record with perfect 10s on the final dive

    - Playing Decathlon (2600 EMU) for the 1st time in 3 decades before coming to my senses...WHAT WAS I THINKING?

PS1 "Twisted Metal" record for the 'Arena Duel' level. One of my all time favorite games. I had to beat one enemy in 13 seconds. Countless attempts to beat it. 11 seconds. I don't think I'd be able to do that again.

Vectrex "Fortress of Narzod". My favorite Vectrex game, and one of my all-time favorites as well. Reclaiming the record was awesome.

Not a "proud gaming moment" at the time of playing it, but I'm pretty proud my NES 'Wild Gunman' Game C record held up to your NES Light-Gun-Onslaught two years ago.. You unleashed some light-gun-badassery! Besides my 'Gotcha' max-out, you nailed every one of my records, except that one. I put some time into being able to end Game C of my own free will --with a nice even score that Jared would be proud of-- (what is the deal with him and even scores?? LoL!). You're an ACE shooter..I guess it paid off :)

Hahaha, oh man. So have I mentioned I have had the urge to break the light gun out lately? I go in spurts so I don't get burnt out on one particular genre. You are right, I hit the light guns hard for awhile. It has been at least a year since I've played. I think what got me to stop was I was saving the longer plays and discovered my Everdrive doesn't play some of them to well. Meant to buy some of the original copies on Ebay and never got around to it. However, since I do have some unfinished business to attend to...You sir, may have inspired me. Thank you, haha.

I thought some of my other light gun scores would have held you off, but you nailed them. I don't want to be living a fantasy about that score... Go for it, man! :D

favorite old gaming moment was in 1992 when me and a buddy rushed to the toystore after school to buy Super Mario Kart and then had a sleepover.
We had read about the game in videogame magazines and were pretty hype. I had saved up money from my paper route and the week the game was released we were pumped for friday as I would get paid and we could FINALLY play the damned game.

After school we rushed to the bus stop, bought a ticket. Back then you could ride the bus all you wanted for 1 hour when you bought a ticket, so we RAN to the toystore. Bought the game and RAN back to the bus stop to be able to ride the bus home on the same ticket. We were home at about 4pm and played nonstop, only stopping for dinner and toilet breaks, till 5am. Slept, or tried to sleep, for 2 hours to get back up at 7am and played till my buddy had to go home for dinner. It was amazing!

favorite new gaming moment was recently where I played through The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild with my 10 year old daughter riding shotgun. I controlled the game while she would scout out things to do and help remember stuff. She was SO drawn into the story and I enjoyed the **** out of every moment of that time.

    edit:

just realized it said proudest and not favorite ...

well, proudest is hard. I was pretty proud when I got the Metal Slug record but was also pretty proud when I won my first local arcade tournament last year at The Shed Arcade. We have a lot of great players here in our little community in Denmark, almost every player has a Twin Galaxies arcade world record, so the competition was fierce but in the end I managed to squeeze into first place.

The games for that tournament was:
Defender, Galaga (FF), Vs. Castlevania, Mario Bros, Ghouls'n Ghosts (MegaTech) and Time Pilot

Make no mistake, I'm leaning to game accomplishments as that is the nature of the thread, but unquestionably my Peer accolades and my Friendships mean the very most.

Yup, Terr, glad you mentioned that one-Narzod is off the charts, you rock!

    :P

Since my PC is back on track and my big ole feet seem to be in working order again, lol, let's clutter this thread up a bit.

How about this one, since it just happened-I'm oblivious in the vid, which is probably good, I'd have put more pressure on myself:

Going from playing Dragster as, frankly, a joke to 561 5.61's...

    Hehehe

My proud moments will change over time just because my memory sucks in bizarre ways. :D

Recent memory, however: nothing tops recursing in Ingress after a long hard week grinding AP back in November. I managed just over 8 million AP ("Access Points" - XP for the game) in November total getting to Level 16, hitting recurse & back up to Level 7. Almost all of that 8M was done between 18th-26th & to spend 3.5 solid days Ingressing with my wife at the end was the icing on the cake who managed multi-millions AP herself that week.

To put this in game-terms perspective: lots of people play this game harder & quicker (and indeed one fella I know surpassed my week's total in two days) but, to put it another way, most people don't hit Level 10 which only requires 4M AP.

So why proud of such a lesser achievement? Two years ago, when Pokemon Go was released in the UK, I was so unfit I struggled to walk for one hour without rest but I soon found Ingress from Niantic also. Despite both of these physical-movement games I am, alas, still no slim-jim & injuries still prevent some very basic mobility. However, between 23rd & 26th November I managed more than 30 hours gaming on my feet (lots of stops) and 70+km (according to in-game stats) travelled. That's the bit that I'm most proud of.

there serioulsy are different apples to oragnes area

like mentioned before, street fighter -- games are all about fun, and man is that one fun for multiple reasons.

40hrs atari 2600 asteroids marathon -- i always heard about marathoners hallucinations. i've never hallucinated for any reason, game or otherwise but always was curious about it. It was an interesting experience i'm glad to have

Tapper -- honestly fun little game, but inherently not a big deal except for the fact i got lots of friends requrest and attention for doing it, and so i will be reclaiming it

Q*Bert's Qubes -- without the toughest score i've done. but also a lot of fun. And even the acquiring of the cabinet is its own story of being freinds with the right people, doing the leg work, right place right time, all that. the rarity and collectability of the cabinet is of course the cherry on top

channel f games collection aquired -- very cool piece of history in its own right. But i got the collection cause a friend i made knew i was interested, messaged me when seeing one. negotiated over the phone through him -- also its own pride point. to me this collection represents not just video game history, but friendship, teamwork, and negotiating skills.

oh yeah, and i like good and bad attention both so when i find people that i dont know talking about me -- good or bad -- i always get some pride :)

    My proudest gaming moments are:

Crossy Road 50 hops without needing to turn, even though I had a small delay - was going for the 100 hop record when it happened

Perfect 9 on Zelda Wind Waker Squid Battleship - was trying to tie Patrick Fenton's 12 when I all of a sudden got the perfect

    https://www.twingalaxies.com/game/the-legend-of-zelda-the-wind-waker/nintendo-game-cube/ntsc-squid-battleship/

Achieving all 983 Hyrule Warriors Legends records here on TG - 9 months to get everything submitted

Sub 5 hour glitchless Zelda Ocarina of Time - took 3 weeks of practice to do

4 hours and 21 minutes to beat Donkey Kong 64 - took about a month to route and practice

Star Fox Out of this Dimension speedrun world record - second try on the luck dependent slot machine

I reverse engineered Gran Turismo 2 and figured out how most of the game works. Now there are people building on top of what I learned to mod the game https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/mod-gran-turismo-2-plus-bug-fixes-restored-content-and-new-content.378282/
Then I wanted to know what caused its machine test/garage wiping bug, and ended up turning it into the first advantageous game breaking glitch I'd discovered after working out how to control it for infinite money and only needing six tests for all six licenses (youtu.be /tat89gwE22s)

As for actual playing of games, either finally getting a pretty great run of Intelligent Qube with the accelerate button held down (19 minutes!) or the perfect deathless run of Kula World/Roll Away, which was then not that great when it turned out the NTSC versions allow a lower in-game-clock time. Made a new record but I jumped seven frames too late at one point, so it's not deathless :-(
