Holy busy summer Batman!!

As some of you may have noticed, I have been very inactive on here lately (minus a few posts). It has been one wild summer (John Cusack).

1. I've got 3 children in Softball/Baseball that I would normally coach but can only help this year because of the next thing on the list.

2. Mowing business lost 50hrs or so of help per week from last year which means I'm working 10 hour days, 6 days a week if I'm not going to a game.

3. Remodeling the basement on my own (95% done)

4. Our entire backyard was basically one massive garden from the previous owners so it needed a pretty big maker over. Got the back yard plants moved and distributed throughout the town (huge Day Lily's, we figured if you split each one up 4 ways we would have had over 180 of them plus a few other plants that still need transplanting), trimmed back the massive over grown Lilac bush, the lawn where all those plants were has been graded thanks to my step dad and his skid loader, I harrowed and seeded the yard tonight. Going to put in a paver patio with a netted gazebo over it with a fire pit next summer...so that will be fun.

5. And when I'm not doing ANY of those other things I'm practicing with the kids in the back yard or being killed for the thousandth time by nerf guns and light swords. Not enough time for video games apparently. Out the door at 8:15, lucky if I'm back in it by 8:30. With all that stuff being checked off the list slowly I'll be able to get back into posting a few quick scores a day.

I hope everyone is having a great summer, or winter for you southern hemisphere participants.

I love hardscape projects. I built patios and retaining walls in a hilly town in WV for three years. There are few things more satisfying than tamping down the pavers and sweeping the sand into the gaps and off the tops and seeing how it comes out. Also we have an overgrown lilac bush that's so woody it's about 5yr past when it should've been cut back. I did the apple trees this spring I'll get to the flowering shrubs next year. Keep at it man it keeps you young :)

WOW that sure is a busy summer so far, and summer hasn't even really started! I am in Ottawa Canada, Summer was here a bit early but officially won't kick off until about mid June.

We have 17 acres of forest. Sadly a lot of it is Ash and has been mostly killed off by the ash boring beatle. I spend my free time converting dead trees to large blocks of wood. I have so many I am trying to figure out clever ways to use them. This one will be an outdoor standing table. Others will become stump/steps leading up to a deck or even the pool when it is finished.

Busy times! The things we do to keep our families happy.
