The public listing and availability of the unmodified, original TG historical database, which "New Modern TG" acquired in April 2014, has created an opportunity for a new category of dispute results related to pre-TGSAP score performances.

As many members know, it is notoriously difficult to successfully dispute and remove a pre-TGSAP score from the current active database. This difficulty arises because, in some cases, it is challenging to definitively prove a score's invalidity based on available objective evidence. Twin Galaxies has exercised an abundance of caution when considering the removal of historic scores to protect history from being altered or modified by conjecture and speculation.

However, now that there is a preserved copy of the original database containing all pre-TGSAP scores, those scores that are significantly problematic or highly questionable based on available evidence (but not definitively proven to be false) can be removed on a case-by-case-basis from the current active database. This action helps to support a fair competitive leaderboard environment without resulting in tragic historical data loss, as the data now still remains publicly available in the historical database archive.

When this specific type of removal occurs due to a dispute claim, it will be known as SCORE RETIREMENT.

Score Retirement can only apply to pre-TGSAP scores. The decision to retire a score is ultimately a TG Administrative determination. A score retired by dispute claim is not necessarily considered to have been objectively and definitively proven invalid. However, "New TG" only asserts the validity of scores that remain present and verified in the modern, current, and active competitive database—any other score databases displayed (such as the Original TG Historical Database) should only be understood as purely historical reference or possibly for entertainment purposes unless otherwise specified.

While the vast majority of scores in the Original TG Historical Database are valid and are currently reflected in the active modern TG database, it is important to note that the Original TG Historical Database contains uncorrected errors in rules and data display, misrepresented achievements, misplaced data, and other inaccuracies. Despite these issues, it preserves the history of the database exactly as recorded up to April 2014 without any alterations. Pre-TGSAP scores that may be retired from today's modern leaderboards through the dispute process will still remain preserved in this archive as needed.

With score retirement being established above - based on all the evidence provided in the dispute claim thread, we have decided to retire the Pre-TGSAP score of 1,136,435 set by Phil Britt on Paperboy Arcade on June 29, 1986.

Thank you.

Finally! I never got a chance to chime in on the dispute as it was closed. As discussed over at CAGDC, Phils score could only be possible by using the Grandstand Trick on Hard Way IMO.

I've provided links there showing how to do the trick succesfully giving you 60+k bonus each day:

I can think of a couple other names that appear on the historical database only, and their associated problematic scores, that seem to fall neatly into the category outlined above.

Oh wondrous axe of retribution, where shall thine righteous blade precisely excise next?
