The Dispute System Has Arrived.

At long last the Twin Galaxies Dispute System has been made available.

For more specific information on how it works and how you can participate -

Please see this wall entry
https://www.twingalaxies.com/entry.ph...Dispute-System

We have tested the system as much as possible but there still may be some glitches that get discovered under heavy use. We appreciate your patience as we sort them out as needed.

As we all know this system going to generate a lot of conversation, some of which will be contentious. It is important that the discussions remain civil and as fact-based as possible.

In all regards, Twin Galaxies appreciates all interest from the community that chooses to take the time to help maintain the integrity of the score database!

Please always keep in mind that Twin Galaxies will view a dispute claim as a very serious matter, and deliberate abuse or misuse of this upcoming system will be met with a harsh administrative response.

I put up a dispute that seems like would be a good one to test the system. I'm disputing my own score so I'm not expecting any arguments so it should be a good one to test if everything is working correctly.

remember members with a creditably score of over 4000 can start a dispute. So it might not be that many.

So, if there is a track with rules that simply are not achievable with the game title's available settings, how would that be handled? In this case, I have a specific track in mind, with only one accepted score on the track. Would I simply start a dispute for that one score?

Not that I have 4000 CR, but maybe some day...

I did a challenge and when I tried to do the attachment of the inp file it said denied do to something about not having the rights to do it. Instead I just dragged my inp into the message body, so no need to fix my dispute, only the error message thingy.

    Question about the Dispute System:

In a situation in which a score has been entered incorrectly, and there is no evidence of wrongdoing, what will be done?

Will the score be removed? Player will be required to resubmit and start from scratch?

    or

Will the score be edited to reflect correct score if player has evidence to support?

Since I do not have 4000 cred I call upon thee who do to dispute the following !!!!!!!!!

Pinball NES - Marc Merica 2 reasons the score is not possible and he has also never been proven to be a real person

This score was either faked or entered by a neglecting incompetent former referee in Texas

Arkanoid NES - the score max is not possible due to the fact there is NOT enough boards to do so unless, a cheat device was used and the score would roll if in fact it got to 999990 and it did not just get right to it and krogman decided to stop

My final analyzes is that it was self entered and or entered by error

I will add more as time and research permits

If you can show some actual video proof the NES Pinball score isn't possible, I'd be more than happy to start a dispute. But so far the only video I've seen shows the score is most certainly possible.

I remember bits and pieces of this conversation from another thread, but just to be clear about what the dispute is for my own edification:

Some say the posted score is not possible because a wiki page lists a maxout score that is lower than the current record, but there is no video proof that the score is maxed out or advances beyond the listed wiki score.

    Is that correct?

I would be glad to prove it Ill see what I can come up with to get that done not sure I trust it will be taken serious, if I spend the time to do so

    what about Arkanoid?

I think the conversation is buried deep within that Impossible Scores on the Scoreboard thread. What I remember is that Rudy showed us a web site (not Wikipedia) that said the game had a max score and that score was really weird. But that web site could be edited by anyone so I expressed my lack of confidence is such a site. Someone else then used save states and an emulator to show the score was possible and Rudy expressed his lack of confidence is using an emulator to prove the score didn't have a max.

Here's the web site Rudy posted https://strategywiki.org/wiki/Pinball

Here's an actual TG article on how the score rolls and the flippers disappear again after 1,100,000 but no mention of a max score. https://www.twingalaxies.com/archive/.../t-113059.html

I'm less than convinced that this game has a max score and anything less than a video showing the gameplay of a maxed score probably won't change my mind.

My biggest issue with the linked strategywiki site is the statement: "Mario and Pauline from Donkey Kong". Everybody knows that their names in Donkey Kong were Jumpman and The Lady. No confidence there either. Can I dispute that strategywiki page?

If you, or anyone else, posts a video that shows the console and game boot up, full gameplay, and then a max score, I would take it seriously, and would get behind this challenge 100%. That would be my burden of proof on this game. Anything less than that, would, in my opinion, not be enough for a challenge.

And while we're at it, why is the revision with The Lady as the playable character called "Pauline Edition"? Shouldn't it be called "The Lady Edition"? /end rant /end thread hijack /end quoting own posts

I might or someone should do a TAS or savestates with Everdrive up to the supposed max score to see what happens at that score.

EDIT: Looking at the scoreboard, Tom Duncan has a score of 1,334,900, which just so happens to be what Strategy Wiki says the game freezes at.

    Dear all,

Everything seems to be working as planned with the dispute system. I am sure everyone appreciates the efforts that have gone into this.

    Regarding evidence:

As these disputes will be there forever, I would ask members to jump through a couple of extra hoops before submitting.

Please be as through as possible when describing your cases. If you use any web links as part of your evidence package, please summarise why the web link is relevant and then also take screen grabs of the relevant parts of the provided link. This goes both for internal and off-site links.

The reasoning for this should be obvious. Posts on the Twin Galaxies forum can be edited and external links can eventually lead to dead sites. This means evidence will disappear over time and any resolved disputes risk having to go through the whole process again in the future.

Ideally anyone should be able to look at any individual dispute and see all the arguments and evidence all there in one place, without having to go on a whistle-stop tour of the web.

A big thanks to those who have begun using the new system. It has had a very clean launch but please do let us know of any issues you find.

    Cheers,
    Dave

Scores in the title of dispute items don't have any commas separating the thousands, millions, etc...this makes it more difficult to read.

    Please fix, thanks.
