Dear Community,

In response to community requests for a simpler purchase method, Twin Galaxies now additionally allows people to buy certificates directly with a credit card via the Twin Galaxies Online Store by purchasing a voucher. Please note that a blockchain wallet is still required to receive the TG Certificate.

To purchase a voucher and get your certificate, please visit the link below and follow the simplified instructions:

https://store.twingalaxies.com/products/tg-certificate-voucher

Please feel free to place any questions here in this thread. Thank you!

I love that you guys are listening to the community. So thank you for that.

That said though, near 60 dollars for a certificate!? Wow. And that's not even printed out either which i assume most people would want to do so it could be framed or maybe NFT's are more the thing now and im just old.

I'd personally love to see nothing to do with NFT's and a professionally printed certificate shipped to our door with a 'real' gold flashy badge on it for that money.

Maybe I'm out of touch here but damn..

In the past, the competitive gaming community faced its share of challenges, including issues with the authenticity of Activision Dragster certificates, perceived biases in the awarding of Twin Galaxies (TG) certificates, and a general uncertainty around the legitimacy of these recognitions. These problems were exacerbated when Twin Galaxies temporarily ceased operations between late 2012 and its acquisition in 2014, raising questions about the future and value of its certificates.

Fortunately, we've moved beyond those difficulties, along with the outdated practices that contributed to them. Today, holding a TG certificate means much more than it did previously, marking a significant and respected achievement within the gaming community. While the concept of a NFT certificate might not appeal to everyone, Twin Galaxies views this service as a selective offering for members who wish to permanently commemorate their gaming achievements in a formal and tangible way. It's an option for those who take great pride in their gaming records and want to officially document their success.

For most gamers, being listed on Twin Galaxies' online leaderboards is a sufficient acknowledgment of their accomplishments, and rightly so. However, the digital nature of these records means they could potentially be lost if Twin Galaxies were to ever shut down again, with the exception of records that have been converted into NFTs and stored on the public blockchain. This approach not only protects member's achievements from being lost but also verifies the achievements authenticity and their provenTwin Galaxies' validation in a way that is immutable.

Please keep in mind that the Internet Archive does not and cannot maintain a copy of the current Twin Galaxies database!

Minting your video game performance records to the blockchain as a TG certificate NFT can be seen as a savvy strategic move that ensures the longevity and credibility of one's achievements, offering a permanent public proof of accomplishment and a verification process that ceases reliance on the existence of Twin Galaxies itself.

While the initial cost of securing a certificate as an NFT may seem steep to some, it's a personal choice that reflects an individual's commitment to preserving their gaming legacy. Additionally, each TG Certificate includes access to a secure digital locker, which provides a high-resolution certificate and promises additional future value through exclusive content and benefits. This aspect of the TG Certificate is designed to continuously add value to the owner's investment, offering more than just proof of achievement.

Buying a certificate is not required by any means, but if you do decide to get one, you are more than able to get the high resolution image it provides and get a professionally printed, framed version shipped to your door, just like this user did:

This member now OWNS their record. Most excellent!

Just my 2 cents.

I printed mine on Metal. It is a showpiece in my office. Visitors see it and it gives me a chance to talk to them about Twin Galaxies and high scores, and how fun the community is.

I totally don't understand how you find your certificate url on rarible, they all seem to be "We don't yet have the content for this NFT yet." and no description at all.
It's been quite a few days since I clicked on the track performance and it says "Certificate Mint in process "

I do see where you are coming from and again, thanks for listening to the community. One thing i would say though is don't undersell the insane effort you, Jace, have put into TG since those dark days which in turn have made TG and subsequently TG certs far more trustworthy.

TGSAP alone is a huge reason why certs would be trusted far more nowadays. That said though, i do see why you've taken the route you have I guess both options would be nice perhaps but thats a lot of work and logistically even more work so hey, again, thanks for listening to the community and making certs available period.

If you haven't received a notification or email saying that your certificate has been minted, there is an issue. It should take no more than a minute for that process to take place.

Can you provide a link to the record you are trying to mint? I will get it fixed. It could be a conflict with our new Cloudflare security.

Not really.

But since pressed-

That sounds like "if you are willing to pay money, people will remember your scores".

Mebbe that's not what it means, but I guess in my child-like mind it seems to be the gist.

Again, I'd have no problem simply paying to participate here, but I dunno about the idea of "the more money you have, the more scores you have".

Edit/add-

Ok, also-as I don't plan to buy certificates, that made me feel as if the implication was that I do NOT care about my records going forward, I guess. That's prolly what made me react like a little kid.

Being on this site for a decade should show more than enough commitment. Just remember, you can always get money back but you cannot do the same with time.

The way I see it...your scores will be here as long as TG is here. It has gone through various hands over the years and there is no guarantee your scores will stay available in the future.

However, if you purchase an NFT, your score is preserved on the blockchain. Blockchain involves billions and billions of dollars, millions of computers around the world. It will likely outlive all of us.

I wanted a printed certificate to both show people my record breaking prowess, as well as have a beautiful work of art in my office.

Not everyone has an office, not everyone can afford art. Not everyone who CAN afford it wants to spend the money. If my spending money helps TG, I am happy to do it.

Well, then I guess it goes back to one's own personal philosophy.

I prefer to remain oblivious about the future, never planned for it before, no sense trying now.

God knows, I love being a hamstick, "look at me", etc, etc, but I've really come to the realization lately-

I really only care about TG, as far as this gaming thing goes, and even farther, I mostly care about what others who perform on high levels on the games, usually higher than me, think about me.

As far as the real World knows anymore, I just suck at NES baseball when I play along with my friends, but my secret is, I don't try.

Ah. In a way I can see where I'm overreacting to a non issue, but I've just always been as against someone capable of frivolously spending money being considered "superior", as I am about hate and isms.

It's not art so mush as a symbol of legitimacy-

That you had to pay for.

Kinda gotta stick with how I feel on this.

Ironically, I'd popped on initially this morning to delete my initial post, "screw it, no one cares", as I'm REALLY trying to be more good natured lately, but I guess I gotta stick with my feelings now.

The issue with certificates not completing their minting process has been resolved. Your certificate is located here:
https://rarible.com/token/polygon/0x6846df96b61d5ec126c7246080aecbbb92e19af2:3523641 29971320930925462714791990742798081460165025100791 72189014905698910291

There are a number of other users whose certificates were delayed by the same issue. Those have all been minted as well.

Thank you for bringing it to our attention!

if that doesn’t work, just go here and scroll down a bit:

You will see it.

What seems to be happening here is the long link that you see above is correct as you see it, but the TWIN GALAXIES website is making the actual hyperlink have some extra characters in it which causes the link to not be correct when you click it. If you copy the text of the actual long link above and paste it into your browser then it will take you to your certificate. The shorter link underneath works normally however so you can just manually find your certificate. We are going to fix the aforementioned issue.

Yup they are showing now, thanks.

The previous issue was that they didn’t visually show the content/name/track info, so there was no way to know which was which.

Glad it’s sorted. :)

Shame I didn’t change profile to my real name before starting. Bugga.

So some feedback on this process.

Assume there is no going back once you press that button on your track performance.
It would be great to get a preview of the look of the certificate before you mint or as part of the process to ensure you have the right background (black/white) and name (Alias or real name) and the ability to pick either style before hitting 'go mint!'
Even though I've been going by my alias 80sArcadeKid on TG for ages I really want my real name on an official certificate.

  • alarm

I try to buy 30 polygon to buy the certificate and keep my costs down $AUD60 but that Moon payment thing doesn't accpet my VISA or VISA debit so I'm forced to spend AUD$90 on the TG store for what is a virtual item or go without.
For old fella's like me this is a PITA, roadblock after roadblock, not sure I want to pay this much for a virtual certificate. I think I'm just not gonna worry about it.

You are correct in that there is no going back once you mint.

It does show you a preview before you agree to mint. You cannot pick a style. World records are always black/gold. Other records are always Red/White/Blue. It does, however, always show you your name in the preview.

You can verify this by simply trying to mint another one of your records, (click "buy certificate") and it will show you the preview. You can cancel from there if you wish.
