What do you think?

It looks amazing and I would definitely buy one as an interesting oddity. As a life long programmer however I just can't bring myself go to back in time and program using those ancient tools and methods. I can't even use a non standard keyboard anymore.

I recently purchased the MiSTer, which uses FPGA to perform hardware emulation of these old systems. You load the "core" you want at boot up, and away you go. Tons of arcade platforms, home consoles, etc. I tinkered with a TRS-80 Color Computer core and I had my fill. :)

We live in an amazing time. Blending new and old tech is fun and exciting. Real world steam punk?

I think it's really cool. I've been watching the 8-Bit Guy for years

There are plenty of other cultural examples, a big one I think of is the Music culture/progression.

There are many examples of musicians intentionally "going back to the roots", and coming back with something that just hadn't been thought about at the time, that changes the game.

So regardless of how far programming and coding progress(way the hell over my head, BTW), it's always gonna be a good idea to have access to "what got us here", for newer, younger, frankly more evolved eyes than ours to access.

Smart assed me might try to say "My actual 80's PC's still work fine, Thank You", lol, but no, modern manufacturing tech, all that, this is prolly a cool thing to be out there for those interested.

My first program was written in basic. You could edit one line at a time. There was no "cursor up and change stuff".

EDLIN - line editor

Sure it was fun, but I would feel claustrophobic if I had to do that now.

Same with VIM in the unix world. NO THANK YOU!!!
