Fortnite v3.5 Patch Brings Port-A-Fort, Replay Mode and 50v50 Mode
By Ford James ·
This week's Fortnite patch brings an array of additions, including the portable fort grenade 'Port-A-Fort', a new Replay Mode for budding videographers, and 50v50 returns with adjusted gameplay elements.

Wednesday is now designated Fortnite update day and last Wednesday saw vending machines make their way to various points of interest, along with new first shot accuracy that guaranteed your first shot to be 100% accurate as long as you were aiming down the sights and not moving. This week has brought even more changes, including the introduction of a grenade called the ‘Port-A-Fort’ that spawns a metal structure three stories high wherever you throw it.

The Port-A-Fort was revealed yesterday in a trailer from Epic Games which showcased the epic rarity grenade in action, and it’s proving to be a hit for players that are in a pinch. Tires spawn at the bottom of the column for easy access to the top, but the bottom is also only supported by four columns, making it fairly easy to take down with some well placed explosives. We’ll see over the next few days if experienced players will consider carrying one in their inventory, but it’s unlikely it will find a home in one of the five slots for those who are capable of rapid building. Here’s Epic’s notes straight from their site on the Port-A-Fort:
Port-a-Fort
- Epic rarity.
- Drops in stacks of 1. Can stack up to 5 in inventory.
- When the Port-a-Fort is thrown, a pre-made fort is constructed instantly at the impact point.
- The Port-a-Fort is made out of metal and is three stories tall.
- The bottom floor is 1x1 with a door for entry. Tires inside allow for easy access to the roof.
Replay Mode is the other long-awaited addition after being revealed a few weeks ago, and it gives players the opportunity to turn their epic, “did you just see that?!” moments into edited clips and montages that can be showcased online. Epic are flaunting a “suite of cinematic settings”, and aspiring editors will “have the chance to win phenomenal prizes with the Replay system… very soon.” Check out Epic’s notes below:

50v50 is back as a Limited Time Mode, with a number of improvements this time around. When it was last implemented, games often resulted in small fights everywhere across the map, but to combat that this time and instill the feeling of a huge, epic battle, Epic have given each team a bus that will enter the map from opposite sides. The final storm circle will be visible from the start, and a dotted line will go across the minimap which indicates the point where you’ll be more likely to find enemies if you cross it. If you’re downed too, then you will lose 10 health per tick rather than two like in the standard modes.
Elsewhere, Epic have made some major changes to the Guided Missile launcher, such as reducing the movement speed by 15% and the maximum turn rate by an enormous 75%. A delay has been added to weapon switching too, so players cannot rapidly switch between shotguns in close quarters combat anymore. In our favourite change this patch, a ‘Builder Pro’ button layout has been added for controllers, which assigns each building piece to a specific button, allowing for quick placement of walls and stairs rather than having to cycle through the floor pieces first.
You can check out all of the notes for patch v3.5 here, as there is far too many for us to list.
