RESULTS: Boston Uprising Claim Upset Victory Over New York Excelsior
By Zac Cameron ·
While they might have lost their star DPS, the Boston Uprising have come out swinging to claim an upset victory over the New York Excelsior.

After a disastrous week outside of the league, the Boston Uprising came into today’s game looking to prove that they are still a team to be feared. Here’s a brief breakdown of the match.
The first map, Volskaya Industries, was not as closely contested as one might think based on past results. Boston took their turn at attack first, and seemingly dominated the field of play as they quickly captured the first checkpoint. Their momentum didn’t let up as they quickly overwhelmed the New York defence on the second point, claiming both objectives with plenty of time to spare. When it came time for New York to attack, they faced a much tougher defence than they had been able to offer, claiming the first point but struggling to gain any ground on the second. Despite their best efforts, New York simply could not gain any leverage over Boston, ending the round with just the first checkpoint to their name. Boston set the tone for the series with this first map, taking a 1-0 lead.
The second map, Numbani, was much closer than previously, with both teams putting up strong defences. Boston was first to attack, and though they were able to secure the payload, they found pushing beyond that to be more than a little difficult. The defence from New York seemed to finally kick in, as they held Boston away from the objective as the clock ran out. With the distance established, New York began their assault on the objective as they strove to regain lost ground from map one. Despite Boston’s impressive defence, New York managed to secure the payload and start to move it along the course. With time slowly running out, New York finally managed to overcome Boston and keep them at bay, pushing the payload the required distance with a little time to spare to level out the score 1-1.
The third map, Ilios, was a decidedly New York affair. Boston may have put their best foot forward, but they were only able to capture about a third of the zone before being rebuffed by New York. As the battle continued, New York managed to hold Boston away as they claimed the first round, setting up another fierce fight in the second. The second round went a lot better for Boston, though they still struggled to find their footing under the increasingly intense attack from New York. New York, on the other hand, again managed to keep Boston off the point as they claimed the second round, giving themselves a 2-1 lead overall.
The third map, Junkertown, was again a tightly contested affair. Boston had the first opportunity to attack, pushing the payload through the first checkpoint despite New York’s best efforts. New York turned up the heat with their defence, aggressively looking for solo members of Boston to try and gain an advantage, but Boston managed to hold firm, continuing to push the payload through the second and third checkpoints, ending the round with a handful of seconds to spare. The New York assault proved to be a bit more difficult, as Boston themselves turned out in force to stop the New York advance. Though New York were able to push the payload through the first and second checkpoints, they were repeatedly rebuffed at the third, with their assault breaking on the shores of the Boston defence. New York proved unable to reach the final checkpoint, allowing Boston to claim the victory and tie up the scores 2-2, setting up an overtime round.
The fifth and final map, Oasis, played out like a reverse of Ilios. Boston maintained control over the first point, claiming the first round as New York barely managed to get any time on the point. The second round went a lot better for New York, though they still found themselves unable to fully claim the objective. Despite capturing over 90% of the objective, Boston proved the ultimate winners in this clash, claiming victory 3-2 over New York.
