Guided Missile Will Be Removed from Fortnite Until Further Notice

The guided missile was one of the latest weapons to be added into Fortnite Battle Royale, and it brought a whole new element to the game with its remote controlled capabilities. A large portion of the community began to quickly grow tired of the weapon citing that it was too powerful and should not be in the battle royale title.

These players had their wish granted for what seemed a limited amount of time, as Epic Games removed the guided missile from the game in order to fix an animation issue with the weapon. The studio stated that the disabling of the weapon would only be temporary until the problem was fixed. However, in a post today on the official Fortnite subreddit, Epic Games announced that the guided missile would be put "into the vault while we figure out the next steps for its future."

Peeking, Weapon Swapping, and Guided Missile from r/FortNiteBR

Epic Games has heard the complaints about the remote controlled rocket launcher and has decided that it would be best for the weapon to remain out of the game until they have decided what the future for the weapon will look like. In addition to the widely discussed issue of the guided missile by the community, Epic Games also addressed two other major complaints that players have had regarding the peeking bug and weapon equipping times that were implemented into Fortnite recently.

It remains to be seen what Epic Games has in mind regarding their exact future plans for the guided missile, but with an overwhelming amount of feedback pointing to the weapon being of an unfair nature, the developer is willing to take a second look at the weapon and see what can possibly be done to improve its standing in the game.
