Fortnite Season 4: New Map Guide and Hidden Locations

Season 4 has commenced and the meteor has crash landed on Dusty Depot, turning what was once a bustling trio of hangars into a enormous crater filled with Hop Rocks and an enormous space base. But what else is new throughout the island?

Fortnite Season 4: New Map Guide and Hidden Locations

Today has been highly anticipated by most of the Fortnite community as it’s the start of season four, and the day the meteor finally crash landed on the island. It didn’t hit Tilted Towers like many were expecting, instead taking out half of Dusty Depot, turning it into Dusty Divot, with just one hangar remaining intact and an enormous crater filled with Hop Rocks next door. But that isn’t the only change to the map. There’s another new named location called Risky Reels, existing houses have new and modified basements, there’s smaller craters dotted around, and more. We’ve visited most, if not all of the new areas and have a guide to them all right here.

Dusty Divot & Hop Rocks

Dusty Depot has devolved into Dusty Divot.

We’ll start with the big one; Dusty Depot is no longer. It’s been replaced by Dusty Divot, an enormous crater that is filled with a space base and vast, open terrain perfect for snipers and long-range engagements. Littering the bottom of the new area are glowing crystals called Hop Rocks; consumables that grant you low-gravity effects when interacted with. You can jump further and higher for around 30 seconds before the effect wears off, but be careful, as whenever you jump, it is incredibly loud and sounds similar to a jet engine, which lets everyone in the surrounding area know exactly where you are.

Risky Reels

The avid cinephiles were distraught as a meteorite crash landed on top of their cars.

To the north east of Tomato Town is a brand new drive-in theater named Risky Reels. Previously, it was a fairly barren area with just a house here and there, but now players will find a much smaller crater between a house, and a theater screen. It will no doubt popularise the north eastern corner of the map, and it gives players somewhere to head after Wailing Woods.

Mansion

This mansion would make for an ideal bond lair. It even has a secret basement with an oversized area for a plane.

Right below Lonely Lodge is an enormous mansion that hasn’t warranted an official name on the map. It’s undoubtedly our favourite addition to the island, and we’ve decided to refer to it as ‘Mystery Mansion’ because there’s some interesting stuff to be found. With three main floors and multiple rooms on each, along with a back yard, there’s a lot of loot to discover. If you head down the stairs on the ground floor though, you’ll find a basement that has been kitted out with some seemingly extra-terrestrial technology. It features two chests, multiple ammo boxes and some floor loot too, meaning if you land at Mystery Mansion by yourself, you will have a lot of good stuff to find.

Junk Junction Film Studio

It's got a cute film set of a living room. Fortnite sitcom anyone?

There used to be a singular house and a shed to the east of Junk Junction, but that has now been replaced with a much larger hangar which houses a film set, and two smaller rooms that are replicas of ones found elsewhere in the map. There’s not much to note about this area other than it houses much more loot than the area did previously, and gives players another place to visit if they land in Junk Junction.

Moisty Mire Film Studio

It was hard to find a decent camera angle here. Ironic, given that it's a film studio.

While Moisty Mire has always been a fantastic source of wood, the swamp has always been its downfall as it was a huge pain to move through, and chests were always spread vastly apart from one another. Another film studio has opened up here though, making the middle of Moisty Mire much easier to cross, and providing much more loot. There’s a crashed helicopter and a big green screen, along with multiple rooms to explore.

Nightclub

Somehow, the escaping player didn't spot me as I lined up to take this screenshot.

While the three dance floors that were recently added have now been removed from the map, an enormous warehouse to the north east of Flush Factory has been converted into a nightclub where players can challenge others to a dance-off; as long as they don’t betray you and shoot first, of course. We're calling it Naughty Nightclub, as it’s still surrounded by the other four warehouses, which all contain a lot of loot making it a rather naughty place to land.

Small Craters

Technically, the meteor did hit Tilted Towers.

Throughout the map there’s much smaller craters now, created by residue from the big meteor. Each of them contains a few Hop Rocks and potentially some floor loot, and they’ve often obliterated a few structures that were in the way. The one above is in Tilted Towers, but they’re not difficult to find and can provide players with a useful tool to escape the storm if you’re running short on time.

These are all of the map changes we’ve discovered so far, aside from some very minor ones like the addition of a new basement in Salty Springs. If you find anymore big changes let us know in the comments, and if you’re looking for more Fortnite news at the start of the season, we’ve got a guide to both of the difficult challenges this week: Tomato Town Treasure Map and F-O-R-T-N-I-T-E letter locations, while some more skins have been leaked.
