RESULTS: San Francisco Shock Defeat Florida Mayhem in a Clean Sweep

With everything on the line, San Francisco wasted no time in establishing their dominance over this match, making sure everyone knew that they are gunning for a spot in the Stage 3 playoffs. Here’s a brief breakdown of the series.

The first map, Temple of Anubis, proved to be an extremely one sided affair. The Shock were quick to capture the first point, rolling that momentum on to the second to claim both objectives with plenty of time to spare. Florida were not as successful, failing to even capture the first objective as they found themselves unable to penetrate the San Francisco defence. San Francisco claimed the first map to get an early lead in the series.

The second map, Blizzard World, produced a very similar result as the first game, with the Shock again showing their supreme offensive power. After securing the first checkpoint, the Shock began to advance the payload, pushing through the Florida defence with relative ease. Despite their best efforts, Florida could not stop the Shock from reaching the end of the course, leaving plenty of time on the clock for any potential overtime shenanigans. The assault from Florida was not as successful however, as though they were able to secure the payload, they found advancing it to be quite a different story. Battling hard for every inch, Florida were very close to reaching the next point, however were ultimately rebuffed by the Shock’s defence, costing them the second map.

The third map, Nepal, was the nail in the coffin for Florida’s hopes of victory. The first round saw Florida barely manage to accumulate 13% capture before San Francisco claimed victory, and the second round proved to be even more disastrous, as Florida could only amass 7% before being pushed off the cart entirely. With this round, San Francisco had claimed victory for the map and series, with one more set still to come.

The fourth map, Route 66, saw San Francisco refuse to let up the assault. With yet another overwhelming offense, the Shock pushed the payload across the map to hit all the checkpoints, finally ending their journey with more than 2 minutes to spare. The Florida attack was, again, less successful, as they found themselves facing off with an aggressive defence from the Shock. Florida did manage to reach both the first and second checkpoints in this bout, doing better than in the previous maps, however they could not reach the final checkpoint before running out of time, causing the Shock to win in a clean sweep.
