Fortnite Infinity Gauntlet Mode Guide: How to Beat Thanos
By Jesse Collins ·
The chances of grabbing that Infinity Gauntlet in Fortnite are literally 1 in 100, so you need to know how to defend yourself from the Mad Titan, Thanos, during this limited mode.

Everyone playing Fortnite has been checking out the limited Avengers: Infinity War mode this past week. In the mode, players have a chance to become the Mad Titan Thanos himself, albeit a nerfed version in comparison to his on-screen appearance. In the early rush of the game, players try to go for the Gauntlet all at once. But, what if you don't get it? What if you have nothing but your usual Fortnite faire to take on Thanos? Here's some tips on keeping yourself alive while the big purple baddie causes destruction.
Loot around for Legendaries to take him down.
Loot is increased in this mode, meaning there’s a much larger chance of receiving a very strong weapon from chests. Anything under Legendary just won't cut it against the Mad Titan. The golden scar, though, is fairly common. So, if you don’t aim straight for the Infinity Gauntlet, spend a few extra minutes looting so you can get some good gear. Also, don't forget about the storm while you loot. In this mode, it comes in much quicker and does five damage per tick right from the start, so don’t spend too long outside of the circle.
Max out your parachute time until the Infinity Gauntlet appears.
While it's considered a cheap tactic, taking your time to parachute down while waiting for the Gauntlett to appear allows you to plan where exactly you want to land. The Infinity Gauntlet comes crashing down to the island early on in the game, so this gives you enough time to figure out if you want to hunt down loot first or rush for it. This means no skydiving. Parachute as soon as you jump out of the bus and aim for the center of the map. Then, when the Gauntlet appears, skydive towards it and hit it head on. If it’s not too populated of an area at that point, you’ve got a good chance of being the first one there. Otherwise, it gives you a chance to figure out your surroundings and grab the best loot.
Utilize indestructible structures for protection.
Thanos comes in like a wrecking ball when it comes to both player-made structures and normal houses and buildings. So, where can you hide? While he runs through anything he touches, he still cannot destroy the objects around the map that are "indestructible". For instance, the goal posts at the football field is a perfect quick hiding spot if he's nearby. All it takes is positioning yourself on one side and shooting through the netting. Peeking around cliffsides is another example. You want to damage him, but he will demolish you if he gets to you. This is just one way to knock Grimace down a notch.
Boogie bombs are how you win that dance off against Thanos, bro.
This joke weapon is generally useless in most modes and often overlooked. But, in the Infinity Gauntlet Mode, boogie bombs still affect Thanos. Along with being utterly hilarious to see Thanos getting down with his funky self, it leaves him vulnerable to attack due to him not being able to defend himself or even attack. Get some shots in before he wrecks you afterwards.
You may be Solo but that doesn't mean teamwork can't happen.
Look, you may have to take a chance and trust someone that can turn around and kill you once Thanos is dead to steal the Infinity Gauntlet. Thanos is rocking 500 HP and 200 in shields from the get-go, so taking him head on at your maxed out 100 HP and 100 shield just may not cut it. Plus, you don't owe them anything. Thanos is dead? Take them down and snag that glowing glove yourself.
Don’t get too close! He packs a hell of a punch.
If you’re taking Thanos on, don’t get too close as his punch combo does around 70 damage in one blow. Shotguns aren’t too effective against him, so load up with assault rifles, or anything with a long range scope really, and hit him from a distance. Long range snipers are the most likely to get the kill, since even with all of his power and jump height, his movement is pretty limited. He's more likely to be running and hiding while trying to hit you with his beam attack than super-jumping towards you, if you're far enough off. Even better if there’s other people shooting him too, as his attention may be focused on them.
