Respect Earned - The Player That Beat Shroud & DisRespect At DreamHack PUBG

It’s not every day you get to compete in a tournament like the DreamHack Austin PUBG Showdown Duos Challenge where star players like Dr Guy "DisRespect" Beahm and Michael "Shroud" Grzesiek, but for one lucky team, being in the right place at the right time meant everything. Wowing the audience and viewers from around the world, streamer Dillon “TwitchDRich” Richardson managed to be the first to take take down both of the high profile players in this match, DrDisRespect and Shroud in the series of five matches

We caught up with the man himself after the games to get his thoughts on how it all went down.

Twin Galaxies: So the big thing is you got the kill on DrDisRespect and Shroud in the first round, phenomenal.

Richardson: Thank you, appreciate it

TG: How did that feel?

R: First of all I heard shots then I looked at the kill feed and I saw Shroud killed somebody, and I look up the hill where I heard the shots and I see a guy rezzing another guy and I’m like “that’s got to be Shroud rezzing Doc” and I’m like ok, ok. So I waited ‘til the rez was over and I tapped Doc to down him and then I got into a little 1v1 with Shroud and ended up pulling it out, I don’t really know how it happened but it worked out in my favor. It was crazy seeing it happen “You killed Shroud” like wait a minute?

TG: What was going through your mind at the time? You were hiding in a nearby shack and had a lot of attention from enemy duos on you in that moment.

R: Yeah, I was getting pushed by the zone. There were probably, at one point in time, I think 4 teams all around me and I just had to lay low. I was solo, you know. Playing for rank. To no surprise, Shroud prevails and kills all the teams around us. I see them and I’m getting pushed by the zone... I hit an adrenaline burst and I have no other choice but to push. It just happened to be him, and however it all fell into place, it was just crazy. It was really cool.

We also caught up with Richardson’s Duo partner Avori Liz to get her thoughts on the takedown.

TG: How did that feel to see your partner take out the two major juggernauts of the competition?

Liz: It felt nothing short of amazing. He had said to me right at the start of the tournament, “All I want is to kill Shroud,” and I kind of had in the back of my mind that maybe he could do it, but Shroud's a pretty good shot. Even so, he pulled it off and I couldn’t be more proud of him and proud to be next to him.

TG: Of course, one of the conditions of this series was that Shroud and Dr DisRespect had a bounty on them of $50 a piece for the players who managed to kill them. Are you going to take that 100 bucks to a nice dinner?

R: Yeah, we might do that tonight.

The event is not finished, and while neither Richardson nor the Streaming duo of Shroud and DrDisRespect claimed the ultimate victory, at the end of the day, it was a pretty sweet play with a pretty nice payoff.
