LeBron James Named Cover Athlete of NBA 2K19 Anniversary Edition

Today, 2K Games announced that Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James would be gracing the cover of the 20th Anniversary Edition of NBA 2K19. 2K19 will be the second time that the star player has held the title of cover athlete, as he was featured on the cover of NBA 2K14 when he was a member of the Miami Heat.

NBA 2K19 is set to release on September 11th, but pre-ordering the title will allow players to begin playing the next entry in the popular sports video game franchise on September 7th. Fans who pre-order the $99.99 LeBron James 20th Anniversary Edition of the popular sports video game franchise will also receive the following in-game bonuses that include:

- 100,000 Virtual Currency

- 50,000 MyTEAM points

- 20 MyTEAM League Packs

- 10 MyTEAM Packs

In addition to the announcement of LeBron James gracing the cover of NBA 2K19, 2K Games also announced that NBA 2K19: The Prelude will be available for players to download beginning on August 31st. The Prelude is a free to play introduction to the title's MyCareer mode and allows players to create their custom character to later upload to the main game.

The title will launch on the Xbox One, Playstation 4, Nintendo Switch and Windows PC. 2K19 will be the second title in the franchise to be available on the Nintendo Switch.

LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers are currently down 0-2 to the Golden State Warriors in the 2018 NBA Finals and will be looking to gain some form of momentum back in the series with a victory in game three. The announcement of his cover athlete status for 2K19 could be the extra juice that the superstar needs to get his team back on the right track.
