After taking a leave of absence for personal reasons, 2017 Game Awards "Trending Gamer" tmade his return to the popular streaming platform. His return went down in history as one of the most viewed streams ever.

Dr DisRespect Breaks Record in His Return to Twitch

You can't keep someone as brash as DrDisRespect from doing the things he wants to do it would seem. The infamous Twitch streamer returned to the Twitch stage with aplomb on February 5th, 2018, following a prior promise for a return to action only days before. Not only did his fans welcome him. DrDisRespect's return reportedly caused technical issues for the Twitch platform and then drew close to record numbers for one of a single stream.

The self-proclaimed "Face of Twitch", Guy "Dr Disrespect" Beahm took took the streaming platform in 2017 and quickly became one of the most popular and successful streamers on Twitch, playing games such as Player Unknown's Battlegrounds, H1Z1 and Call of Duty. Fans loved the ultra-macho, mullet rocking, and bullet proof vest wearing Dr DisRespect persona that the former level designer for Sledgehammer Games had created. The Slick Daddy Club, the name that Dr DisRespect has given his thousands of subscribers, became one of the biggest communities in the world of Twitch.

Unfortunately, only days after  would appear on his stream and, in regular attire and without the Dr DisRespect character, admitted to his thousands of viewers that he had been unfaithful to his wife and would be taking a leave from streaming for an unspecified amount of time to focus on his family.

On January 19th, the Doc posted a video on his Twitter account that announced that he would be returning to Twitch on February 5th and his massive fanbase began to count down the days until their favorite streamer would grace their screens again.

It would seem it was well worth the wait for his fans as Dr Disrespect put on a show to remember with brand new subscriber animations, scene transitions, and the return of the bigger than life character that thousands of fans can't get enough of. Within minutes of the Doc beginning his stream, Twitch began experiencing technical issues and while it is not known if the massive traffic going to Dr DisRespect's stream caused the issues, the man himself had his own ideas about the situation.

During his first game of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, Dr DisRespect's viewer count rose to as high as 388,000. He treated his massive audience to an adrenaline filled match that saw him take down enemy after enemy with the high powered AWM sniper rifle. In fitting fashion for a return of this magnitude, the doc would secure a victory in his very first game back and celebrated in a manner that only Dr DisRespect is known for.

According to esports insider Rod Breslau, Dr DisRespect was able to break Twitch's record for most viewers for an individual streamer with over 388,000, eclipsing the over 386,000 viewers that League of Legends streamer Tyler1 brought in during his own return stream to Twitch in January. There was such a large amount of donations and subscribers pouring into the doc's stream that it was physically impossible for him to read them all out.

It looks as though Dr DisRespect's following is as strong as ever. With a return stream of this magnitude, it looks as though 2018 will be very fruitful for the "Face of Twitch".

Editor's Note: An earlier version of this article incorrectly stated that Dr DisRespect had failed to break Twitch's record for most viewers for an individual streamer with Tyler1 still holding the record with over 400,000 viewers.
