Overwatch League Match Recaps Day 1, Week 5, Stage 4

We’ve finally reached the final week of the Overwatch League regular season, with only stage and season playoffs to follow. Some teams have already secured their spot in both the stage 4 and overall season playoffs, while other teams are still hunting for a chance at glory. Here’s a brief breakdown of the games from day 1 of week 5, stage 4 in the Overwatch League.

Los Angeles Gladiators vs Shanghai Dragons

It seems almost impossible at this stage for the Shanghai Dragons to claim their first victory in the Overwatch League. Their losing streak has become almost a thing of legend, and it’s hard to say how they could possibly improve enough to actually win a series. The Loa Angeles Gladiators have been doing quite well for themselves this stage, sitting in second place behind their fellow LA team, the Valiant. The Gladiators are a show-in for the playoffs, but it seems that the Dragons will have to be content with being the biggest underdogs in the league for now.

Los Angeles Valiant vs San Francisco Shock

It’s a great day for Los Angeles Overwatch Fans, with both of their teams winning their series today. This match was a little closer than the previous, with the Valiant winning out 3-1 after losing the first match handily. The loss on King’s Row seemed to shock LA into life as they preceded to win the next three maps fairly convincingly. The Valiant are currently on top of the ladder in Stage 4, and second place in the overall standings, making this a very successful time for them.

Seoul Dynasty vs Dallas Fuel

Not a lot of faith was put in the Seoul team today, with most analysts predicting a loss to the surging Dallas Fuel. Fortunately for fans of the Dynasty, their teamwork and effort allowed them to claim victory in this series, 3-1. There’s still hope for Seoul to make the overall playoffs, especially after their performance today, but unfortunately a lot of the work will be coming from other teams, leaving their fate in hands not their own.

With the first day wrapped up, the number of games remaining grows slimmer as the teams look to secure their place in the playoffs. For more information on when these teams will play again, check out the official schedule page, here.
