Community Reactions to Hammond, the Latest Overwatch Hero
By Zac Cameron ·
Hammond the Wrecking Ball is proving to be quite a hit with the community thanks to his unique visual style and gameplay.
The latest hero to join the roster in Overwatch is already proving to be a huge hit with the community, thanks to the multitude of fan art that has been created. Officially known as Wrecking Ball, the hamster also known as Hammond was originally thought to be another monkey living on the moon with Winston, and it was assumed that he had also escaped at some point prior to the events of the game. His existence on the moon is a fact now, with the reworked map now showing a room for Hammond next to where Winston resided.
Hammond was added to the PTR late last month, and while there is no firm timeline on when he’ll become available on the liver servers, that hasn’t stopped a lot of fans from expressing their delight with the new hero with a multitude of fan art. Here are a few choice pieces showing off his better side.
Thank you @PlayOverwatch for this badass little fella! I am not much of a tank person, but damn, for him I will become! #hammond #overwatch #art #blacksmiley pic.twitter.com/4VuAeeHzyq

We haven’t seen much of Hammond in his other outfits yet, so much of the fan art has been depicting him in his default form. That said, a few artists have created some concepts for possible costumes, and one in particular draws attention to the similarities with D.Va.
I'm so looking forward to how far Hammond's skins are gonna be pushed shape-wise! It looks really challenging to come up with designs that fold into a neat seamless ball :Oc pic.twitter.com/lTldvFydOV
