Brawlhalla Patch 3.25: Fireworks, Summer Exclusives, 3v3 Beachbrawl

By Jesse Collins ·

The devs for Brawlhalla come and put a patch every week, always striving to make the game better. Patch 3.25 may not be their biggest one, but it brings good tidings, Mallhalla items, and a sound overhaul for PC players.

Brawlhalla Patch 3.25: Fireworks, Summer Exclusives, 3v3 Beachbrawl

As with every Wednesday, so comes a new patch for PC and PS4 fighting game Brawlhalla. While this 3.25 patch is a little lighter than some, it brings some updates to the summer fun the game is already having.

Brawl of the Week: 3v3 Beachbrawl

Up first is the new Brawl of the Week: 3v3 Beachbrawl. Taking on a red or blue color, players are three vs three in what is basically volleyball with water balloons as the weapon. With two beach balls on the screen at once, players throw automatically equipped water balloons at tham to knock them to the other side. Jumps are normal and water balloons have the usual projectile throwing angles. There’s no damage to be had here, but scoring is determined by who hit the ball past the other team. Scores are added up at the end of the 2-minute match. As with most Brawl of the Week gametypes, players can queue up solo or with a friend. As with any BotW, expect a little coin payout from your first win, too.

Their official description explains more. “Time for a Beachbrawl party! What better way to beat the heat than throwing water balloons at beach balls to score goals in a 3v3 Summer throw down? Get 1 point for each beach ball you get past the opposing team’s goal. Most points at the end of 2 minutes wins!”

New In Mallhalla

So, there’s a couple minor additions to Mallhalla this week. Aside from the Summer Colors, skins, podium, and KO effect that was already previously added, there’s a new Avatar and Taunt in the shop.

The Avatar last week was the Ice Kor-eam, but as of today, a moving avatar called Endless Heat Wave has joined the list for the Holiday specials. This cute little avatar has a VALKRI Mk 1 (sidekick) surfing. He’s going to only 60 Blue Mammoth Coins.

As for the new taunt, we welcome the addition of Fireworks. With a huge display of fireworks in the background, your Legend holds two sparklers in the air in a display that screams “USA! USA! USA!” to your opponents. While the new taunt is welcome, it’s coming exactly one week after the 4th of July, so you can be ready with this for New Year’s Eve in five months. On the upside, this isn’t a Holiday exclusive, meaning this is a permanent addition to the shop.

Changes and Sales in Mallhalla

Currently, the two chests that can be opened are the Elemental Chest and the Sandstorm Chest. Neither of these are new, but they do have some exclusive skins for those that are looking for a new style. The Elemental Chest exclusives include Stormlord Ada, Inferno Ragnir, and Dust Devil Cassidy. The Sandstorm Chest includes Anubis Mirage, God King Teros, and Amun-Raza. Each chest (loot box) can be opened for a random skin at 100 Blue Mammoth Coins, but items are duplicate protected.

For skins, there’s nothing new this week. But, the young appearance Apprentice Ulgrim has a sale knocking it from 80 BM Coins to 60. The creepy octupus Deep One Azoth is down to 100 BM Coins from 140, as well. There’s only one sale on item skins, however, with the Red Hot Ranseur Spear skin down to 30 BM Coins from 40.

In addition to the Fireworks coming in at 120 BM Coins, the Facepalm taunt is down to 60 currently (from 80). The broken, ragged Craig sidekick is at 60 as well.

Legend Rotation

Every week, the rotation changes for those that are playing the game on the free side of things. This week, expect to see Artemis, Val, Barraza, Teros, Koji, and Queen Nai as your playable Legends. This means that your daily challenges will revolve about these six.

Game Tweaks

As for changes to the game itself, it’ll be better to let the developers at Blue Mammoth explain their modifications this week.

“The test map Small Twilight Grove has been adjusted. The wedge on the right now has a small outside wall. This change is intended to open that area back up for recovering like on the standard version of Twilight Grove. It should also make recovering over the tip of the wedge a more viable option, all without opening the wedge back up to the abuse cases available on standard version. This also allows us to bring the wedge’s left wall back to the same position it’s currently in on the standard version since you’re no longer forced to recover through the gap between the wedge and the main platform when knocked below the wedge. Additionally, the high soft platform in the middle has been lowered so that it can no longer aide a runaway player camping the wedge since a neutral air attack can now reach that platform within a single jump from the main platform. All of this is aimed at maintaining what players find fun about the unique geometry of Twilight Grove while eliminating the most egregious abuse cases.”

They’re also working on improving the sound and audio for PC players with Wwise.

“We’re slowly rolling out a new beta branch that uses Wwise in the live client. Wwise is a whole new sound engine that will drastically improve sound quality for PC players. It’s a system already running on PS4, and our goal is to mirror what we have onto PC. We will be asking the community to beta test this new sound engine!

Wwise will let us do more things, like:

  • Have more dynamic sounds
  • Smoother looping for background music
  • Taunt voice sounds
  • Dedicated thread for performance
  • AAA quality and more!”

That’s everything in Patch 3.25 for Brawlhalla this week that we can see. While there’s not a ton of major changes, it’s always good to see the team constantly providing updates and tweaks to the game, in addition to their tournaments and events that they offer.
