Philadelphia Fusion Take down Boston Uprising to Advance to Semi-Finals

After a tough few series spread out over a couple of days, the Philadelphia Fusion have advanced to the semi-finals after defeating the Boston Uprising 2 series to 1. Though they claimed a relatively easy victory on the first day of playoffs, the matches today were anything but easy as Boston did everything they could to avoid elimination. Here’s a brief breakdown of the series.

Series Two

After claiming victory in the first series earlier in the week, Philadelphia faced a much tougher battle today as Boston did everything in their power to avoid being knocked out of the running. The first match took place on Junkertown, which turned in favor of Boston after a tough battle well into overtime. The second match on Lijiang Tower likewise came easily to Boston as they looked for redemption for their earlier loss. The third map, King’s Row, went back to Philadelphia as they sought to bounce back and close out the series. The fourth and final map, Hanamura, once again fell to Boston in overtime, allowing them to reset the bracket and giving them another chance at victory.

Series Three

The third series between these two teams once again started well for Boston as they claimed victory on the first map, Junkertown, as they looked to continue their earlier momentum. The second map, Lijiang Tower, went in favor of Philadelphia as they began to turn the tide on their opponents. The third map, Eichenwalde, also went heavily in favor of Philadelphia as they capitalized on their opponent’s sudden slump. The fourth and final map, Hanamura, saw Philadelphia set a hard target on their first attack that Boston could not reach in the end, handing the victory to the Philadelphia Fusion.

With their victory here today, the Philadelphia Fusion will advance to play against the New York Excelsior in the first Semi-Final match next week. For more information on those matches, check out the official schedule page, here.
