Lima Beats CaptainZack to Win Smash 4 Event at EVO 2018 through Controversy
By Nicholas Barth ·
Lima took home the Smash 4 (Super Smash Bros. for Wii U) title at EVO 2018, but his victory over CaptainZack was overshadowed by controversy involving the infamous Bayonetta character.
It was a battle of Bayonettas in the Grand Finals of the Super Smash Bros. for Wii U tournament at EVO 2018, as Bharat "Lima" Chintapall was able to utilize his skills with the infamous Bayonetta character to defeat fellow Bayonetta player Zack "CaptainZack" Lauth and take home the Smash 4 EVO 2018 championship.
However, the expected final send off for the fighting game at EVO, as many believe that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will replace its predecessor in future events, and the victory by Lima over CaptainZack to claim the EVO 2018 title was overshadowed by a blanket of controversy.
The controversy consisted of the two Bayonetta players stalling with the far from fan favorite character, as Lima and CaptainZack had both agreed to wait out the match and go for a sudden death. Match officials soon stepped in and made Lima and CaptainZack play out the remainder of the match in order to cease any talks concerning collusion between the two players in the Grand Finals of the Smash 4 tournament at EVO 2018.

Boos from the crowd watching the match then began to echo throughout the venue, as audience members were very displeased with the stalemate the two players orchestrated, as it was looked upon as a sign of disrespect to the highly prestigious fighting game event of EVO.
Gonzalo "ZeRo" Barrios, who is regarded by the vast majority as the best player in history of the game and has since retired from competing in the title, took to Twitter to poke some fun at the controversial situation involving Lima and CaptainZack at the EVO 2018 Smash 4 Grand Finals.
I wonder how my favorite community is doing tonight!

With the future of competitive Smash 4 up in the air with the impending release of the highly anticpated Super Smash Bros. Ultimate entry in the popular Nintendo fighting game franchise, it is unfortunate to see what could possibly be the last Smash 4 appearance at EVO be overshadowed by controversy.
