The Dota 2 International Breaks Prize Pool Record Yet Again

The Dota 2 community has once again shown their support for the game amidst the biggest tournament the franchise has. The International 2018 prize pool has set an all-time high for both the game and esports as a whole, surpassing last years figure of $24,787,916 to set the new record.

Dota 2 has consistently been the title holder for prize pools since 2014, with the community continuing to show their support and appreciation to the pro players by contributing through the Battle Pass system. Up until this point, there were questions about whether the community would break their previous record again, with the prize pool lagging behind somewhat in terms of raw percentage. It wasn’t until developer Valve released their Battle Level and Treasure Bundle in late June that saw the numbers pick up to the point that they are now.

There are currently no more rewards or incentives through the Battle Pass system, so it seems unlikely that the total prize pool will increase in any substantial way, however there is still some time left for fans and viewers to contribute to the prize pool. As of writing, the current prize pool sits at around $24,793,393, with the contributed prize pool itself sitting at $23,193,393.
