A Ripple in Time - Celebi Pokemon Go Quest Special Research Guide
By Jeff Kotuby ·
The quest to catch Celebi in Pokemon Go has finally been given to Trainers! We'll keep tabs on each step in this Pokemon Go Special Research after Mew, where the guardian of Ilex Forest can be yours!

At long last, Trainers will be finally able to catch Celebi in Pokemon Go! The legendary Grass/Psychic type has been clamored for since participants of Pokemon Go Fest were able to get their hands on it early. The wait is finally over, and we’ll be able to catch it after completing a series of Research tasks similar to how we caught Mew with the "A Mythical Discovery" quest. Mew’s notorious questline stretched over a series of eight parts with varying tasks, from spinning Pokestops to catching certain Pokemon (that damn Ditto…) to feeding wild Pokemon berries, and everything in-between. This isn't a wrinkle in time, this is the ripple in time!

Celebi Stats and Moves
Based on the formula used to calculate CP in-game, along with Trainers who already caught their Celebi during Go Fest, we know a little bit about Celebi before we’re able to catch it. Celebi can have a Max CP of 3090, but will likely be catchable around the 1200 CP-range, similar to Mew. Its Fast Moves can be either Confusion (Psychic) or Charge Beam (Electric), while its Charge Moves can be Dazzling Gleam (Fairy,) Hyper Beam (Normal,) or Psychic (...Psychic.) DPS-wise, the best moveset will be Confusion/Dazzling Gleam, but Confusion/Psychic can be used for that sweet double STAB. Interestingly enough, Celebi is not able to learn a Grass-type move, meaning it only “benefits” from its Grass typing defensively (which can be arguably a curse more than a blessing.)
Best of luck Trainers! May your Celebis have high IVs and Psychic-type moves. Still haven’t gotten your hands on a Regirock yet? Then check out our guide on taking down the legendary golem and get that Pokedex entry before it’s too late!
