Atlantic Division Claims Overwatch League All Star Victory

The Overwatch League All-Star Weekend was a chance for the teams to blow off a little steam and engage in some less than serious competition. Not to say that the teams didn’t take each match seriously, but how many times will you get to play with such a cross-section of the Overwatch League all mixed together. The main event, the All-Star Match, saw the Atlantic division claim their ultimate victory with a dominating performance over their Pacific Division rivals. Here’s a brief breakdown of the series.

The first map, King’s Row, actually saw the Pacific Division claim victory to open up the series. The Pacific Division was able to advance the payload through the map with time to spare, whilst their Atlantic rivals found themselves blocked off before reaching the final checkpoint.

The second map, Rialto, saw the Atlantic Division turn their fates around after a hard-fought battle. The Pacific Division was able to push the payload almost all the way to the final checkpoint but found themselves out of time before reaching their goal. The Atlantic team managed to reach the required distance in overtime, to level out the score and keep their hopes alive.

The third map, Horizon Lunar Colony, saw both teams making excellent attacks and defenses. Both teams were able to successfully capture the two checkpoints in their initial attacks, though the real struggle came in the overtime bouts. The Pacific team struggled in their second offense, only able to secure the first checkpoint before running out of time, while the Atlantic team had no such trouble, securing both checkpoints with plenty of time to spare to claim victory and the lead in this series.

The fourth map, Ilios, was a back and forth battle between these two teams. The first round would go to the Pacific Division, though the Atlantic team did manage to capture 99% before being forced away. the second round was a dominant one from the Atlantic team, with the Pacific team unable to score any percentage by the rounds end. The final round was another close contest, though the Atlantic team were able to secure the win with a 100%-99% showdown.

The fifth and final map, Route 66, was another opportunity for the Atlantic team to showcase their dominance. The Pacific Division team pushed the payload through the map but found themselves blocked off prior to reaching the final checkpoint as time ran out. The Atlantic Division team suffered no such difficulties, advancing the payload the required distance with time to spare to cement their 4-1 victory in the All-Star match.
