Team Vitality Claim Third Place in EU LCS

It’s been an excellent run for Team Vitality this season, proving they have what it takes to be considered one of the top teams in the EU LCS. Their third-place battle with Misfits might not have gone the distance, but that didn’t mean Vitality didn’t work for their victory, ultimately proving their strength and possibly setting themselves up for a World Championships appearance. Here’s a brief breakdown of the games.

Match One

The first match seemed to go well for Misfits, as they took an early lead in both kills and objectives. Vitality did make attempts to fight back, however it proved to be insufficient to gain control of this clash, as Misfits cruised to a relatively easy victory on the back of their team-fighting and objective control.

Match Two

This second match was almost directly inverse to the previous one, with Vitality holding control for the vast majority of the game. Misfits could barely muster the strength to claim a single tower and two kills, before Vitality shut down opposition and ended the match to tie up the series.

Match Three

Perhaps thinking the key to victory lay on the Blue side of the map, Misfits opted to once again run a fairly straightforward team comp and replicate their match one results. Unfortunately, Vitality had a very good read on their opponents this time around and were quick to shut down any attempts at getting ahead, sweeping the map of objectives and setting up match point for themselves.

Match Four

The final match proved to be a repeat of the previous one, with Vitality once again asserting their control over the map as they shut down Misfits attempts at playmaking. Despite everything being on the line for Misfits, they were unable to turn the tides of battle around, falling further and further behind before ultimately dropping off completely, handing Vitality the win.

With this victory, Team Vitality have claimed third place in the Summer Split of the European League of Legends Championship Series. Should tomorrows Grand Final end in favor of Fnatic, Vitality will automatically qualify for the 2018 World Championships as the EU Second Seed.
