Featuring a slick color scheme of light gray, red and charcoal gray and a phoenix as its logo, the new Overwatch League team of the Atlanta Reign is looking to draw upon its home city in order to proudly and properly represent the city in the world of esports. The phoenix logo of the franchise references the city's seal and new beginnings, as the Atlanta Reign looks to make a statement as one of the eight teams debuting in Season 2.
“We are excited to finally unveil the Atlanta Reign,” said Paul Hamilton, President and Chief Executive Officer of Atlanta Esports Ventures. “We said from the beginning that we are building to compete. We chose a name that reflects that intention. We want to engage directly with Atlanta’s passionate esports community and the city as a whole.”
An official roster for the new Overwatch League team for the Reign has not yet been announced by the franchise. However, the organization has acquired a vast array of coaches for its players. The Reign coaching staff currently consists of Brad “Sephy” Rajani as the team’s Head Coach, along with Dimitri “Silence” Couturet as Assistant Coach, Cas “Casores” van Andel as Player Development Coach, Danny “Danny” Mychakov as Data Analyst, and Dongmin “Dongmin” Jeong as Translator.
With the Atlanta Reign being the first of the eight new Overwatch League teams to reveal its official name and branding ahead of Season 2, fans can expect to see the seven other franchises to begin making major announcements in the near future.
