PUBG Europe League and National PUBG League Details Announced

November 6th saw the developer of battle royale title Player Unknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) announce the details of the 2019 esports season for PUBG that will see the creation of nine different regional pro leagues that will all compete separate from one another until the best from each region come to together to determine a world champion and take the lion's share of a $2,000,000 prize pool at the PUBG Global Championship.

The nine regions that will see their own pro league take part in the 2019 esports season for PUBG include North America, Europe, Korea, China, Japan, Chinese Taipei/Hong Kong/ Macao, Southeast Asia, Latin America and Oceania. Six of these regions will have their leagues operate like a traditional pro league format, while three will operate with a pro circuit format that will see teams compete in a series of tournaments instead of a traditional season.

Two of the pro league regions for the 2019 competitive season of PUBG esports are North America with the National PUBG League (NPL) and Europe in the PUBG Europe League (PEL). While specific details regarding the other seven regions and their leagues have not been made as of yet, the first details of the National PUBG League and the PUBG Europe League have been announced.

National PUBG League - North America

The NPL will be broken up into two main tiers that will each see 16 teams competing. North America's top 16 PUBG teams will be competing in the NPL, while the NPL Contenders tier will consist of 16 teams that will be battling it out for one of the NPL team spots. NPL matches will take place during a period of five weeks in each of the three phases of the overall 2019 competitive season with a $200,000 prize pool up for grabs each phase.

During the middle of each phase, all 32 teams from the NPL and NPLC will compete in the NPL Royale that will take place at the OGN studios. This event will have no bearing on the overall standings of the NPL but will offer a separate prize pool for teams to battle for.

A online qualifier will be held for any team to compete in and will determine which teams will be competing in the 2019 NPL Preseason Tournament. The top 24 teams from the online qualifier will advance to the preseason tournament in addition to eight invited teams. Interested teams can sign up for the NPL online qualifier here.

January 7th will then see the 2019 NPL Preseason Tournament take place where 32 teams will battle it out for a prize pool of $100,000 and to decide which 16 teams claim a spot in the NPL and which 16 teams will be sent to the NPLC where they will have chances throughout the season to claim a NPL spot.

The end of each phase of the 2019 esports season will then see the bottom six NPL teams duke it out with the top 10 NPLC teams to secure a NPL spot. The top six teams from the Relegation event will then claim a spot in the NPL for the next phase of the 2019 PUBG esports season.
