Super Smash Bros Ultimate Tier List

Tier lists have been a part of fighting game lexicons for generations now, and the Smash Ultimate tier list is no different. They represent the current state of a given metagame, or the "game within the game" as played at the highest level. Tier lists are fluid and change over time, based on new techniques created by players or changes to the game by the development team. As such, each player's Smash Ultimate tier list will be different than the last, and no tier list is "correct," at least not until the game is a few decades old, like Super Street Fighter II Turbo or Marvel vs. Capcom 2, where because so many matches have been played, the tier lists are "set," so to speak. Really, tiers don't mean much if you're simply better than your opponent. By working hard, improving on your weaknesses, and maintaining a positive attitude, you can beat any character put in front of you.

But that's not sexy, right? All we all want to know is who's the best character in the game right now and who we need to start playing as or practicing against. Here's our first preliminary tier list for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, with characters placed in no particular order. This list is dynamic and will change often as new information is discovered, so keep your eyes here for updates.
