Gachikun wins Street Fighter 5 Capcom Cup 2018; Season 4 and Kage Announced
By Jeff Kotuby ·
Gachikun held off all challengers and took home the Capcom Cup 2018 championship! Soon thereafter, our speculations of a peculiar addition to the Street Fighter 5 character select screen were brought to light.
Capcom Cup 2018 has its champion! RedBull| Gachikun defeated all challengers and was crowned Capcom Cup 2018 champion, defeating DETONATION|Itabashi Zangief in Grand Finals by a score of 3-1 after the latter reset the bracket from loser's side. Fudoh|Fujimura finished 3rd, while FOX|Justin Wong and RZR|Xian rounded out the Top 5. You can view every bracket from the past weekend. Soon thereafter, Street Fighter V head Yoshinori Ono took the mic and revealed the new season of Street Fighter V, complete with new changes and, of course, a new character.
Kage Revealed
If you logged onto Street Fighter V at some point today, you probably noticed this odd new character on the selection screen. He sort of looked like Ryu, but he wasn't Evil Ryu. He was Kage, which means "shadow" in Japanese (you Naruto fans know that by now.) This character is ridiculous and looks like a MUGEN character, full of crazy special moves, including a teleport, Evil Ryu's axe kick from Street Fighter IV, and more. As always, he comes with two distinctly different V-Triggers - Rikudo Osatsu, which seems to be similar to Akuma's VT2, and Taigyaku Mudo, which gives him warping capabilities during combos. His Critical Art is also a classic: Metsu Shoryuken. It was also revealed that Kage would have two alternate costumes: one resembling Evil Ryu's alternate costume from SFIV and a costume that makes him look a little like Shiva the Destroyer from the Hindu pantheon.
We sure hope there's more information coming from Capcom regarding Season 4 of Street Fighter V. Once we learn more, we'll let you know, so stay tuned!
