By Zac Cameron ·
The popular rapper seems very interested in getting involved in the growing esports business, discussing plans to start his own org in the future.

Soulja Boy could be set to join the world of esports in 2019, after an interview with TMZ highlighted his interest in the scene. The popular rapper spoke with TMZ over the weekend, where he mentioned his interest in competing against the big names in esports, like Team Liquid and 100 Thieves.

No names or solid plans revealed just yet, however Soulja Boy did mention that he’s interested in competing in Fortnite, Call of Duty, Overwatch, and Counter-Strike. “Honestly, I’m starting a gaming org [at the] top of the year, 2019,” Soulja Boy told TMZ. “We’re going to be finding talent, hiring talent. I’m going to put together a team for Fortnite, put together a team for Call of Duty, put together a team for Overwatch, Counter-Strike, all of that. But one thing at a time.”
Soulja Boy went on to state that Ninja, one of the biggest stars in the gaming scene right now, is a good friend that has taught him a lot about the business. Soulja Boy did lament that getting Ninja to play on his team would likely cost a fortune, due to the streamers already notable success. We’ve already seen quite a few celebrities getting involved in esports over the years, and since the landmark stream with Ninja and Drake earlier this year, many more seem open to the idea of participating in esports and gaming related events. Whether or not Soulja Boy does create a new esports organization remains to be seen, however the more mainstream interest celebrities bring to the table the better.
