The iceberg that crashed into the Fortnite island at the start of Season 7 has started to melt, revealing the Ice King's castle.

During the Fortnite Season 7 trailer, the huge iceberg crashed into the south-western portion of the map. It created three new named places of interest; Frosty Flights, Happy Hamlet, and Polar Peak. Until now, Polar Peak has been fairly barren, with just a few structures and the home of the Infinity Blade until it was removed from the game. Now though, with the v7.10 patch, the snow covering Polar Peak has started to melt, revealing the castle underneath.

Everyone knew that a castle was atop the iceberg, as it could be seen in the last couple of weeks of Season 6. When the iceberg collided and the castle wasn’t visible, it became apparent that it had been submerged in the snow. The common theory was that the snow would melt throughout the season and two weeks in, it looks like the theory has been proven correct.

Most of the Ice King’s castle is now visible at Polar Peak. You can enter and explore multiple floors with tons of loot lying about the place, and a very impressive looking throne room. The Infinity Blade has gone now though so unfortunately you can’t grab it at the start of the game then tear down the castle with your immense power.

At the bottom floor of the castle, there’s still some snow blocking off areas which could eventually open up, so we’d be surprised if Polar Peak has finished changing for Season 7. Expect the castle to “grow” even more over the next few weeks, revealing more areas to enter. Over time, it’s likely that the surrounding areas will melt too. Greasy Grove, despite being frozen away, is still very much there so the ice may melt as the season goes on and restore Greasy Grove back to its former glory.
