Shroud Explains How Epic Games Can Make Fortnite An Esports Friendly Game

Michael "shroud" Grezsiek has been a veteran of the esports world with his years of competing as a professional Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) player for the likes of North American organization Cloud9. While shroud has retired from competing as an esports player in CS:GO or any other title and has shifted his focus on his Twitch stream, the extremely talented PC first person shooter player still keeps his eyes on what is going on in the esports world.

During a recent Twitch stream, shroud turned his attention to the competitive scene of Fortnite Battle Royale and explained how Epic Games could easily improve it by doing one simple thing.

"Epic Games and Fortnite is really interesting about the whole esports thing. I really don't believe that making Fortnite good for esports is that hard. I really don't believe it is that hard. It's really easy. It's really easy to make an esports friendly game," said shroud. "It's super easy, and here's all that you need to do. Just listen to your pro community. That's it. That's literally how easy it is to do an esports game. That's all you need to do. Nothing else."

The relationship between Epic Games and the professional Fortnite community has been seen to have a major strain on it and is something that is in need of repair, which shroud believes would help the growth of the Fortnite competitive scene greatly.

This was especially true during the Finals of the Fortnite Winter Royale $1,000,000 tournament when the Infinity Blade and Season 7 planes were added into the title when they had not been in the battle royale game during the Fortnite Winter Royale qualifiers.

This instance led many professional players to publicly state that they do not believe that Epic Games takes their feedback seriously and continues to make changes to the game that are often seen as unwanted by the community as a whole and not just the professional players.

With many seeing Epic Games hurting the growth of Fortnite esports by not doing what shroud has explained is needed to be done, the developer of the popular battle royale title will need to begin to listen to its pro community more closely and actively, according to shroud, if it hopes to see Fortnite become one of the biggest esports games in the world.
