Next Call of Duty Game Will Reportedly Not Be Ghosts 2

Call of Duty fans hoping to see Ghosts 2 release in 2019 will reportedly be disappointed, as it looks as though developer Infinity Ward will possibly not be creating a sequel to Call of Duty: Ghosts.
While Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is the newest title in the popular first person shooter franchise and has only been on the market since early October, this has not stopped the community from speculating what the 2019 entry in the FPS franchise will be from developer Infinity Ward. A great deal of this speculation pointed to the 2019 title being Call of Duty: Ghosts 2 which would be the sequel to the Infinity Ward developed title of Call of Duty: Ghosts.
However, the hope that the rumored title will be the next game in the franchise took a direct hit on Wednesday, December 2nd when Kotaku News Editor Jason Schreier responded to a thread on ResetEra regarding the potential of the next Infinity Ward title being Call of Duty: Ghosts 2 based on the social media activity of Senior Infinity Ward Communications Manager Ashton Williams that looked to be referencing the Infinity Ward series in the first person shooter franchise.

Responding to the ResetEra thread, Schreier stated that the 2019 entry in the franchise will not be the rumored game with the phrase of "It ain't Ghosts 2!". Schreier did not not elaborate on his statement regarding what could possibly be the identity of the next title.
There would likely be plenty of fans pleased to see the next title in the franchise be Call of Duty: Ghosts 2, as the single player campaign for the game ended on a very large cliffhanger that has never been expanded upon in the franchise. However, with Call of Duty: Ghosts not being seen as a fan favorite entry and it leading to the revamping of the franchise in the form of a more futuristic style in order to address complaints from Ghosts, it would not be shocking to see the statement from Schreier being confirmed sometime in the near future.
