Middle East Fortnite Players Call for Dedicated Server, Campaign Goes Viral

The year of 2018 saw Fortnite Battle Royale become a video game phenomenon across the world with players from all regions of the globe enjoying their battles to collecting Victory Royales. However, players from the region of the Middle East have recently begun a now viral social media campaign calling for Fortnite developer Epic Games to implement a dedicated server for the Middle East Region in order to help players with various game issues that they experience due to the lack of a dedicated Fortnite server for the region.

Players from the Middle East region began the #FortniteMiddleEastServers campaign on Twitter with the posting of numerous photos and videos showing the problems that they face playing Fortnite without a dedicated server. One of the main issues that players participating in the Twitter trending campaign is the extremely high ping that Middle East players face due to them having to play on the servers of other regions.

With ping being the network latency between the client or platform of a player and a particular game's server, a low ping will result in a lower latency and will result in a player experiencing less lag. However, players in the Middle East experience high pings on a consistent basis that result in them having trouble playing the game at an optimal performing level. This has led them to having negative experiences playing the popular battle royale title.

Seeing the viral campaign explode on social media, Epic Games gave an official response to the issue on the Twitter account for the battle royale title of Fortnite stating that the cloud providers the developer uses to provide the infrastructure for the world's Fortnite servers currently do have the necessary capacity available in the Middle East and that they are expecting a solution to this issue in the near future.

"We work with multiple cloud providers to supply the infrastructure for Fortnite servers globally," said Epic Games. "None of these providers yet have capacity available in the Middle East region, but we expect to have a solution in the next few months. We'll keep you updated as we learn more!"
