Does Black Ops 4 Have a Campaign?

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is the latest title in the popular first person shooter franchise of Call of Duty. While Black Ops 4 draws upon many elements from past entries in the franchise, the newest Call of Duty title has many unique aspects with one of the most controversial being what Treyarch, developer of Black Ops 4, decided to do with the staple single player campaign game mode that had been in every previous title in the franchise. This decision has led to many to ask one simple question when learning about Black Ops 4. 

Does Black Ops 4 Have a Campaign?

The answer to this question is a simple no. The current Call of Duty game does not have a traditional single player game mode like past titles in the franchise. Treyarch opted to develop the Blackout battle royale game mode instead of a single player campaign in order to compete with the likes of Fortnite Battle Royale and Player Unknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG), as these two titles helped skyrocket the popularity of the battle royale genre. 

This led to the latest Call of Duty title having the three game modes of standard multiplayer, zombies and battle royale. However, there are story elements that players can experience that give those yearning for a single player story a little taste of what Black Ops 4 may have looked like with a campaign. 

These story elements are told through the specialist missions that give insight into the specialist characters that players play as in the game's multiplayer and Blackout game modes. 

While many players were upset at the fact that title did not have a story, others were not too bothered by the decision of Treyarch to not have a campaign in Black Ops 4 due to the fact that the most popular game modes of Call of Duty games are the multiplayer ones. 

Does Black Ops 4 have a campaign? While the answer to this question is no, fans of the Call of Duty style of campaign will have the next entry in the title developed by Infinity Ward as a possible hope to see the return of a single player campaign for the franchise.
