OpTic Gaming Part Ways With Fortnite Players

One of the more popular esports organizations have decided to temporarily leave the Fortnite scene, after parting ways with their final two players earlier today. The announcements came on Twitter, as Kenneth “Baldy” Anderson and Stephen “Gunfly” Brown both revealed that they were leaving the organization for the time being, with no replacements announced as of yet.

Parted ways with @OpTicGaming. Huge thanks for everything they did for me ?. I’ll now be looking for a organization to represent for the fortnite competitive scene. RT’s appreciated.

After the announcements on Twitter, Infinite Esports and Entertainment esports director Kodiak Shroyer took to Reddit to discuss the news with fans, revealing that while discussions had been occurring for some time regarding the players, ultimately a resolution could not be reached, leading the players to seek their fortunes elsewhere.

“We were approached by Kenneth (Baldy) and Stephen (Gunfly) and they made it clear to us they wanted to play with other duo partners. Being that we feel strongly about any competitive Fortnite players for OpTic playing as the same duo, we didn’t think it was fair to punish them or stand in the way of what they felt was best for their own success. Essentially giving them the option of staying as one duo or parting ways,” stated Kodiak on Reddit. “They decided to part ways, and we released them from their contracts on good terms all around. We really do wish them nothing but success and are thankful for their maturity and understanding. As for OpTic in competitive Fortnite, we will continue to keep a watch on the scene and rising talent, but for the time being will not have players rostered on a competitive team.”

Fans of the organization will have to wait a bit longer to see success in Fortnite, as the former duo struggled to find their footing over the past few months leading to their departure. It seems OpTic will need to start fresh once again, though given their track record it shouldn’t be too difficult to rebuild.
