Get ready to face even more competitors as Rocket League unites their player base.

Psyonix, creators of the smash hit Rocket League, have always prided themselves on being at the forefront of multiplatform cross-play. Now, in an announcement posted on their website, Rocket League has truly become a cross-play title, with players on all available consoles and PC able to connect and play together.
“With special thanks to all of our friends and colleagues at PlayStation, we are thrilled to announce that starting RIGHT NOW, Rocket League has entered the PlayStation Cross-Play Beta program! Players on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Steam can now randomly matchmake with or against each other in all Online match types (i.e. Casual, Competitive, and Extra Modes), revealed the company in their announcement post. “Today's announcement is an important one for us here at Psyonix, because we know how much our community has wanted FULL cross-platform support for quite some time. It's because of YOU, our fans, and our generous partners on all systems and services that have made this possible in the first place. On behalf of the entire team, THANK YOU for your passion and persistence as we continue to do our best to make Rocket League the best experience we can.”
The rise of cross-play has been in the works for some time, however it hadn’t really reached the forefront of people’s minds until the launch of Fortnite on the Nintendo Switch, when it was revealed that the reason many games are lacking this exciting feature is due to Sony’s reticence to allow PlayStation users to interact with other console and PC players. Now it seems that attitude has changed, and hopefully we can see more cross-play titles in the future.
