Big E Gaming Announces New Event to Take the Place of Winter Brawl

Philadelphai's premiere fighting game tournament organizer, Big E Gaming, hosts three of the biggest tournaments in the fighting game community with Winter Brawl, the Northeast Championship and Summer Jam. The organizer had some major news for the future of Winter Brawl at this year's event, Winter Brawl 12, with an announcement video that was shown to everyone in attendance and later posted to their Youtube channel.

The video shows off some of the greatest highlights that Winter Brawl has seen over the years, with players like Echo Fox's Justin Wong making appearances. It is then revealed that Winter Brawl 12 will be the very last Winter Brawl event. A new event by the name of April Annihilation will be taking Winter Brawl's place in the Big E Gaming organization.

April Annihilation will be taking place from April 12th to the 14th, 2019 at the Crown Plaza in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. The event will be no different from Winter Brawl in content, as the only major differences will be when and where the event will be taking place. Some believe that the move could have been motivated by Big E Gaming's desire to get one of their regionals into the Capcom Pro Tour, since currently their events fall outside of the pro tour schedule. If this comes to fruition, the Street Fighter V portion of April Annihilation will become that much more important for the players attending.

It is always sad to see an event like Winter Brawl come to an end, but the future looks bright for fighting game fans with the introduction of April Annihilation into the scene.
