According to a report from ESPN’s Jacob Wolf, Texas Esports may be prepared to sell their majority share of holding company Infinite Esports & Entertainment, which owns the OpTic Gaming and Houston Outlaws brands.

The Texas Esports group, led by Texas Rangers owners Neil Leibman and Ray Davis, invested in Infinite Esports & Entertainment back in 2017, which led to OpTic Gaming and the Houston Outlaws making their successful bids for the North American League of Legends Championship Series and the Overwatch League respectively.

According to a report from SportsBusiness Daily, Infinite laid off nineteen employees back in October, and ousted former CEO Chris Chaney, appointing OpTic executive and Infinite senior vice president Ryan Musselman to the position.

The valuation of the sale is said to be at $150 million, in large part due to the fact that OpTic Gaming and the Houston Outlaws are permanent members of the NA LCS and OWL respectively. NA LCS spots have been highly valued for some time, and the recent OWL expansion franchises reportedly went for $35 to $60 million, according to ESPN. According to ESPN, the sale should go forth in early February.

Fans have previously raised complaints about the handling of the OpTic Gaming brand, including the release of the popular and successful Halo team. OpTic Players, specifically from the Call of Duty team, have raised concerns that the organization is not managed to the best of its abilities. For now, fans will have to wait and see how this news plays out.
